Why do people still pay for gun oil when 3 in 1 is cheaply available at every hardware store and even Walmart?

3-in-1 is shit for guns. Parts of it evaporate removing the corrosion protection. The parts that don't end up becoming a crud that gums things up worse than cosmoline. The bottles with the straw also leak through capillary action even with the cap on.

I use motor oil or transmission fluid.

>Parts of it evaporate removing the corrosion protection.
As long as there is a film of oil that blocks air from the metal, rust cannot occur.
>The parts that don't end up becoming a crud that gums things up worse than cosmoline
I've never had that happen.
So what lubricant do you use?

Motor oil contains benzene and other toxic additives. It also oxidizes. Transmission fluid is better.

Ghetto ass motherfuckers. I'm still waiting for the day someone is up on /k/ using crisco as a gun grease.

^ Cost effective, quite possibly the best lube/grease combination for all your heaters. Get it, use it, love it. You will thank me.
Ive only been using hornady one shot and lithium grease.

WD-40 is not a lubricant. WD-40 is not designed for cleaning guns. Buy some fucking Hopps you cheap bastard.

This. I've been shooting 20+ years and I've never used anything else. "gun oil" is a scam.
You can buy gun oil or grease that works well for like 20 bucks a year. Why try to save 10 bucks a buy a product that was not meant for that? Do you also eat grass and sawdust to save on food?

>20 bucks a year
>He shoots that little
I like rem oil because I can spray it on my guns and also on my hair for when I go out at night to pick up the ladies at the watering hole
