In the original soft lead flat nose 250-grain loading -- yes. Source: lots of old farts from when I was a kid. They called the .45 ACP 'a .45 Colt with its balls chopped off.' JMB developed the .45 ACP to perform like the then current military loadings of 230gr .45 colt.


That said, in modern guns you can definitely load .45 colt to be hotter than any .45 ACP.

Hes a pro tip: if you get something in .460S&w you can also shoot .454 casul and .45 colt.

Same deal with a revolver in .454, except you cant upgrade.
