Why isnt there a lot of 80% lower platforms? I mean, why isnt there an M82 80% lower/weld together kit? Is it because of copyright issues or what?

The patent hasn't expired yet and won't for a long time.
>>
>>31701309
So the AR15 and 1911 patent either dont exist or has expired?
>>
>>31701288
You don't want to fuck around with an M82. The people who manufacture them are extremely highly trained and skilled. They are the best in the world. My buddy used to work there in Tennessee. I got a limited tour however, what I did see was precision and professionalism. All of the employees are no-nonsense workers. It's serious business once they punch in.
>>
>>31701342
That is correct.
>>
>>31701288
whats the point of an 80% if its almost impossible to buy the rest of the parts for it?
even if someone made a 80%m82 theres no way in hell you are getting the rest of it for less than a complete gun.
its like hey why dont people make 80% lugers and nobody makes the rest of the components
>>
>>31701410
I thought patents were only valid for 15 years or so?

How the hell did a young photographer like Ronnie Barrett come up with the know-how and resources to build the world's first .50BMG rifle?

IO is still worse. The shit they do wouldn't fly when compared to a drunken monkey's work.

A single shot pop gun or the M2 is far from the M82, you contrarian.

Already happened. They require a mill to finish though.
>>
>>31701821
He meant the Vulcan .50 BMG.

It's another brand that makes shoddily-made products that are lawsuit-worthy. They changed their name multiple times like I.O.
>>
>>31701869
>>31701821
Vulcan is another name for IO. Same shitbag owned it, I'm sure he has since disbanded it to prevent people from murdering or suing him.

Just like every other company the IO shitbag starts up.

Sauce?

>>31701903
Mostly limited runs from machine shops that already pump out FAL receivers. The most common ones right now are the century arms castings floating around.
>>
>>31701309
This.

Plus most guns aren't as standardized, widespread, ect as the AR is. Tons of companies make AR parts, they are easy to get, easy to put together, ect.
>>
>>31701516
guess what year 1911 is adaopted

ar15 design came around in the 60s
>>
>>31702117
Are you saying that theres a company that CASTS lowers??
>>
>>31702226
I wasn't paying attention, what i meant to imply is that the M82 should be out of patent by now, no?

>2016 - 1980

>>
>>31702254
Yeah, even DSA sells cast FAL receivers.

Also FYI the regulated part of the FAL is the "upper"(in AR15 parlance). Same with the SCAR.
>>
>>31702310
Cast aluminum? or cast steel?
>>
>>31702337
Cast steel, of course.
>>
>>31702350
Doesnt casting steel/iron make it brittle?
>>
>>31702384
Should be okay if you temper it.
>>
>>31702384
Casting is a cheaper process than traditional forging for small time production like civilian small arms.

The advancements Ruger made with casting small arms over the years has revolutionized the way the industry looks at the process.

In the end it’s all about the material, geometry & heat teat, not the process selected.
>>
>>31701660
>>31701837
So you're saying you consider an M2 to be a rifle? Who let you in here?
>>
>>31702254
You know FN did that too right?

DDs aren't necessarily hard to work with, just look at the RPG-2
>>
>>31701288
this guy does quite a few receiver blanks

>>
>>31702254
Cast is not necessarily automatically shit. Sure forged is always better but when cast is done right and applied CORRECTLY it is fine.
>>
>>31703455
the m2 doesn't fire a full caliber round?
the m2 doesn't have a rifled barrel?
im sorry i dont really have strict to the letter qualifications of what the fuck a gun is, but it goes bang and that's about it.
>>
>>31703727
A Machine gun is primarily a support weapon capable of sustained, automatic fire.
Which is what the m2 falls under.

Techinaclly it is a rifle, considering it does fire a rifle round from a rifled barrel, but it is officially considered a machine gun by literally everyone except autist like you.

So in all fairness and it's not the first "official" dedicated .50bmg rifle.
>>
>>31703727
You know what isn't an 80lb grew served monster incapable of being shouldered and fired by a single man as he would a rifle? The M82/M107
