Which is only slightly less fine, if a .22 is all you have, it'll probably kill a deer with good shot placement, but most deer are killed for meat, and taking too long to die makes them taste bad, so I'd suggest more gun. When I shoot hogs, I'm only keeping 2 max (preferably smaller sows), but I'm putting a bullet in\ near all of them because that's what the landowner wants.

Upon initial engagement, I have 100rnds to suppress with so I can move into cover, then once those 100rnds are gone, I switch to the 30rnd mags and continue engaging with more accurate fire from cover and continue moving from cover to cover.

Suppressive fire will drain 30rnd mags like sucking juice from a capri-sun pouch. It's important to have higher volume of fire than it is to be precise when in initial engagement. If it gets to the point where 100rnds are gone before your adversary is neutralized, you would have to be a fool not to be in cover.

Besides bleeding the body, longer periods of hanging (about a week, you don't eat beef without it hanging for a bit, why do it with deer?) are also a good idea for flavor\ texture, but pull your backstraps and tenderloins first, they're good to go straight off the corpse and hanging will dry them. Temperature for hanging should be mid 50s to low 40s so Southern state folk are better off using a processor (they have a cooler) for best quality, but again, bleeding them by opening the throat (some say femoral artery as well, but whateva) and hanging for at least a few hours will improve your quality greatly. I take my straps and loins and tell the processor to sit on the deer for a bit, he knows what's up. IF you don't want to go commercial, you can break the deer down to fit in a cooler and age the meat that way, but I think hanging gives better results. If your climate allows (32-48 degrees or so) letting it hang yourself is doable and butchering out a deer isn't so bad after the first time, most of the remaining meat is probably headed to grind, jerky, or stew meat (although the sirloin has some possibilities and a couple parts can be decent roasts if you're careful), so sloppy cuts aren't a huge deal. You're just going to need a barn or shed or something to protect your meat, we've got a little outhouse style shed (was originally going to be the shithouse, but never dug a pit honestly) set up for late season hanging at the deer camp for when weather allows. I've recently thought about trying a longer dry aging thing on deer, but I don't think they have the fat content to make it worth it like beef.

That's about all the deer prep knowledge I think I have.
