If I had the money, I'd buy it regardless of whether or not it's a good product. I find them to be one of the sexiest rifles made.
>>
everyone loves the autonugget.
>>
>>31643160
When you say dollarydoos I assume you're in Oz so I have no idea what shit costs in digeridollars, but >>31643224

Canuckistani here, I own two, great rifles once you dial the gas system in properly.

They're fun, neat gats but they really don't justify the American price, in Canada where these things are $300 a pop it's a different story though.
>>
>>31643160
i found 1 at a gunshow for 13000 in america. This is supposing by dollarydoos you mean canadian pesos
>>
>>31643425
Canadian Pesos, you're looking at $600 max unless you're an idiot buying a "Sniper special" some guy cut sight slots into in his garage

I would have been much happier investing the $1100 into an AR build if 2010 me was like 2016 me, but I have this thing now, so I guess it's here to stay.
>>
>>31643445
The notch is worthless but some rifles have a legit rail, worth the extra in my opinion.
>>
OP here... im in the US. Contemplating buying this as i still have a couple of spamcans of 54r that i have for a nugget i bought like 8 years ago and never shoot. I fucking hate my nugget but i bought it cause "hurr muh hunna dolla gun". It stays in my safe as a reminder not to buy meme shit.
>>
>>31643160
Don't know 'bout the Aussie market and your dollarydoos, but the Burger market is horribly overpriced for what's basically a 54r SKS that beats itself to pieces if not carefully adjusted by a competent individual.

>>31643311
More light armor piercing cop killing firepower than most 'Murican arsenals. Irony's a bitch.
>>
>>31643546
its worth the muzzle break alone that thing is 10/10
>>
>>31643546
Then don't say dollarydoos, that's cultural appropriation (also confusing as shit, as we've seen)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w3iPFl-cfI

But still, buy it, chances are you'll break even if you hate it after blasting through your ammostash.
>>
>>31643546
>OP here... im in the US
Well, now, that's a bullshit import restriction of a different color!

Might as well at that price, >>31643667 has it right. You'll be able to resell it for more.

amerifag here

I bought one a few years ago. I only paid $900 but these have gone up in value quite a bit. Now I think one in decent shape can go for $1100+ here.

IMO they are great rifles with lots of history in them. Most common is Tula, followed by Izhevsk. The third MFG is debated as to the exact factory, but commonly believed to be Kovrov and go for quite a lot more since they only made a few thousand.

They aren't super accurate, but they are extremely light and comfortable compared to the garand. You don't need to dial in the gas system exactly, since most run on the highest or 2nd highest gas setting anyways, but still check beforehand.

And despite what /k/ says, they don't 'beat themselves to death'. That was the G41 and possible test variants of the AVT-40, not the main line SVT40.
>>
>>31643901

I like that Hakim. I want one something awful.
>>
>>31643160
>Last year my LGS got one in
>Didn't know what it was and priced it at $700
>Sold in an hour and a half
At least I got to hold it...
>>
>>31643160

They're like $400 up here friendo.
>>
Jesus...I remember when those things were $200-300...really regretting it now.
>>
Do you need to use specific x54R loadings for the SVT, or can you fire anything in it?
>>
>>31644198
dont use heavy ball ammo
>>
>>31643160
They're cool collectibles but they're not really that good rifles.
>>
>>31643160
I'm assuming canuk. From what other canuks have said that is a terrible price. On the other hand if you're a fellow burger, then that isn't that bad of a price. If it's the one in your photo that looks to be in pretty good condition and they usually run at least $1k in the US.

Awesome guns. Pic related is my .303 SVT sporter. Scout Industries has agreed to design and build a mount for the SVT, too. I'll be posting the prototype here when I get it. But it'll be nice to have another option.
>>
>>31643901
Second this, but they aren't inaccurate, at least with my hand loads. 2 moan, sometimes better.
>>
>>31644685
That sounds really cool. Pretty much the only thing I like about canuk-land is the relatively plentiful .303 brit. But I'll take my 'Murican freedom over cheaper ammo any day.
>>
>>31643305
He couldn't be an emuland, they don't let you own semiautos there.
>>
>>31644808
Yes they do. It's simply severely restricted. I don't know what class that is so we'd have to get an aussie to give us the skinny. But as I recall, basically only professional hunters and occasionally farmers who prove they have a need are able to get semi-auto.
>>
>>31643311
Damn I too live in canuckistan, where'd you find the nagant revolver?
>>
I use to own one that never worked properly. I sort of regret selling it, but then I always remember that I used the money to buy 2 garands instead.
>>
>>31644198
I can't speak for others but my tokarev doesn't like czech or chink surplus, only russian.
>>
>>31644777
>Pretty much the only thing I like about canuk-land is the relatively plentiful .303 brit.
b-but there isn't...
>>
>>31645168
I don't have problems finding it but it's like $35 for a box of 20
>>
>>31643160
>1300 for an SVT
Buy a Vepr and be done with it
SVT's are cool but they're not $1300 cool
>>
>>31643160
>1300 for a SVT40

Nigga what ?
>>
>>31643160
I have a feeling these will be imported in huge numbers at some point just like sks's and nuggets

Really? I always hear from commonwealth guys that .303 is really easy to find up there. I hardly ever see it anywhere other than gun shows.
>>
>>31643346
what are the laws, regulations/etc about a yank going to canada and buying one to bring it back?
>>
>>31648267
you cant. ever. Apparently if its been registered here for 5 years you can but ao far absolutely no ones tried that so i just assume thats a dead end as well, the only way is illegally bring it in, which if you dont get caught obviously they wont be able to say how you got it, its not like of you smuggled a t97 or p726 that theyd get you for
>>
>>31648422
damn thats a shame, thanks for info tho
