They're a little quieter (still loud obviously but anything helps), less flash, and great terminal ballistics. They're also usually less snappy and easier to shoot quickly and accurately.

The recoil characteristics of 147gr is a little less snappy which is nice for follow up shots. Plus there is plenty of evidence showing that the terminal ballistics of 147gr 9mm is pretty solid. Also, I reload ammo that mimics my carry ammo so I can train with it, but actually carry HST.

Id go for the 90s because of poa poi at 25y and the penetration. Poa poi is huge when under stress.

I use both situationally. If I'm going to be downtown I use 90 grain frangible rounds so danger to bystanders is minimized. If I'm just out and about in the suburbs or hiking, 147 grain. I'm not worried about shots past 10 yards since there's no legal defense for taking such a shot.

50gr @ 2000fps is where its at.

115+ gr for copper hollow points
124+ gr for lead core hollow points
as fast and as hard as possible if you're trying to penetrate something hard

Only reason to get 147gr is if you need a subsonic round and 90 grain risks too little penetration. If I were carrying a small pocket gun on the beach where everybody was in bathing suits and the recoil of the tiny gun might be an issue, then possibly I'd consider 90 grain bullets.

This is for my crap keltec p11 glove box gun. I usually carry hst 124+p but they suck to control out of this gun.
