I'm in a conundrum /k/
I can't decide between a ruger American in .30-06 or a colt le6920
With the ruger I can shoot accurately to 300 yards with a powerful cartridge and I have a thing for bolt guns.
The colt would be specifically because the political climate after hillary gets elected. And to say that I finally own an AR.
Get a stripped lower and a few pmags to election proof yourself. Then go for he bolt gun. You can get a PSA Freedom Rifle kit to finish the AR later.

What state are you in? I've got a new ruger 30/06 that ive been thinking of selling. It's fairly accurate, but the stock is horrible.

depends on what guns you have now.

If you have neither, I suggest this.

I'm gonna have to agree with: >>31631810
I figure at least bolt action hunting rifles should be safe for some time to come.

thirded

If you can afford a 6920, get a new winchester 70 featherweight in 3006 and a 200$ scope.
But ya >>31631810 this
i would get the colt now. worse case scenario, its not like guns will be outlawed over night, bolt guns will be safe for a long time.
Get the colt. And lots of mags.
Even if they don't ban them outright expect some stupid awb shit again.
I think they'll make a play on mags too.
thanks for the responses m8s
Ive decided to get a complete 6920
Should i stock up on magazines or ammo?

This this this
Have one, out shoots, out handles, out feels, out aesthetics my friends RA in same caliber.
All the plastic stock econo-guns kick hard for caliber, a 6 1/2 lb .30-06 is pretty lively off the bench.

buy 4 pmags, thats about 40 bucks, then use however much youre willing to spend, online for ammo. Best deal would probably be federal m193 55gr bullets. Cheapest ive seen in stores is 49$ for 120rnds. So use that as a reference point.

Get the Colt le6920, at least 10 magazines and at least 1k rounds.

different anon but i live in CO been looking for that exact rifle

Op, I have a couple Americans. Have you owned them before? I wouldn't call them accurate out to 300 yards. Good enough to hunt? Yeah but don't expect good accuracy from them. Expect working man accuracy? It will get the job done. Their barrels seem to have a longer break in period than other bolt guns. One of mine took nearly 80 to 100 rounds to settle down and start getting a tighter group.
