Last one. Serial is 111770xx
>>
>>31601889
Who fucking cares.

Go sell it and buy an AR with what little you get for it. If you already own one then buy a handgun, and if not then buy more ammo.

Stop trying to live out the world wars. They're history, get over it.
>>
all parts are stamped with the same serial, im not sure what that capital i at the end of it means, are the first three digits even though they are kind off from the rest of them part of the serial? the 111? From my understanding this is a 1966? 1967?
>>
>>31601947
I'm not living out anything, it was a cheap rifle that wouldn't be registered to me. AR's are good but the fanboys are fucking retarded. I'd almost sell mine out of principle, I'm ashamed to tell people i have one because of people like you.
>>
>>31601950
OP needs to do his own fucking research if he wants to find out what his shitty bargain bin gun came from.

Fuck off to /his/ with this slavshit antique
>>
>>31601973
chinese, and ive done about all the research i can do in regards to them, I'm not a historian and I'm at a average if not below average intelligence. I came here with the expectation someone smarter than me would have some information i didn't come across. Unfortunately for me it looks like no one that fits that bill is on here.
>>
>>31601963
>I let my emotions dictate my purchases

Sell your AR then, fag. It'll probably land in the hands of a man or woman who needs it, while you're busy playing pretend with your expired MREs and rusted out sporter trash.

>>
>>31602004
reputation, not emotions. I don't want to be lumped in with babies first rifle. Again I'm not trying to live out anything, it puts lead down the tube and thats what matters to me, and again, unregistered to me and cheap. Thought i was clear about that, please reread the post and get back to me, if english isn't your first language id be happy to reword it in some other way to maybe help you understand.
>>
Uhhh you don't have a magazine. Do you? Like not the internal one that SKSs usually come with.
>>
Figured with it being early in the morning all the kids be asleep or at school.
>>
Alright OP

What you have there is a factory 26 milsurp sks. The 26 indicates the state arsenal number, and arsenal 26 guns are usually more collectable because it was the first place in china to produce the rifles. Your guess about the date, 1967, is about as good as we can get with available information.

The stamp on the stock is pretty cool, never seen one of those before and it matches the rifle so that's neat.

How much did you pay?
>>
>>31602031
It was removed prior to me purchasing it, it has 2 duckbill 30 round mags. I haven't had any issues with it feeding at all so i wasn't worried about it. I'm thinking about modernizing it as a pet project and replacing the removable mags with a fixed 20 round after replacing the stock. But i'm trying to figure out if im ruining a good thing here by rebuilding it. I have no experience with older rifles aside from a few 22's my grandfather had.
>>
>>31601889
Get a picture of its bore, and it also looks to be missing its integrated magazine

mag explained in post above, give me a few minutes on the bore.
>>31602045
Most of this I found in the little research i did, would it be spitting in the face of someone who might love it if i modernized it? or should i keep it stock like this? Also got it for free. Guy i worked with owed me some money. I guess i got it for like 120?

Yeah, you really are of less than average intelligence. Enjoy being pampered and catered to by all the deadbeats who have to go work at 6 in the morning.

Are you american or a leaf?

If you bought that for 120 USD you got a hell of a deal, even with the missing parts.

Buy the fixed mag on ebay, 20 stripper clips, a sling, and a chinese clip chest rig, and you'll have a formidable rifle setup. Don't listen to anyone who trash talks you. These are still great guns and, in my opinion, some of the most fun to shoot.

american, the guy i worked with borrowed some gas money and broke one of my knives (I'm a butcher). He paid me in this sks cause he is a deadbeat and never has money.
>>
>>31602114
I think you meant to reply to >>31602079
>>
>>31602072
god no, i was going to replace the stock and i heard they sometimes have issues with slamfire, so maybe get a springed firing pin? Bitch obviously needs to be cleaned really good. But like with old coins, i didnt want to clean it if it was worth something to someone. I'm not a historian and i dont want to ruin it if someone would love it as is.
>>
>>31602118
I did. my bad.
>>
>>31602126
Slamfiring is mostly an issue of the firing pin being cleaned of its cosmoline.
>>
>>31602079
I'm also not worried about most of the faggots. Anyone who talks with absolute certainty is fucking retarded and shouldn't be trusted. I run into these people most over ARs.
>>
>>31602133
Is alright tovarisch. I love how polite /k/ is. But I feel like, as a Canadian also, that if we talk about how polite something is or we are, that we come off as snobby and conceited.
>>
>>31602139
not being cleaned*
>>
>>31602139
So i shouldn't be worried about it too much?
>>
>>31602126
Don't fix what isn't broken.
If it doesn't slamfire, don't worry about it.

20rd fixed mag is an acceptable compromise for what you want. I would just live with the stock. Even if you beat the rifle up, both the barreled action and stock will have honest wear.
>>
>>31602126
>>31602126

Yes, please clean the firing pin very well. If you shake the bolt next to your ear, you should hear the pin rattling. Slam fires can lead to out of battery detonations. I had my russian sks slam fire and it not a good time.
>>
>>31602155
yea, like i said this is my first rifle that wouldn't be considered "modern", i didnt want to ruin it if someone loved it the way it was, maybe i should sell it. How much would these go for?
>>
>>31602099
>>31602108
Bore looks in very good shape, so it should shoot very well. Definitely clean it before you shoot it.
>>
>>31602168
in the states, a good chinses SKS can go from 350-450. To a LGS, I've seen them as high as $800
>>
>>31602168

Don't worry about that, just enjoy the gun. As is, your rifle with the duckbill mags is worth about 350
>>
>>31602176
this a good one?
>>
I had one more question if possible, how likely is it this gun was every issued or used in regards to the chinese military? is it just a surplus that was shipped over to the states, also As far as i can tell it has no import markings.
>>
>>31602180
Other than it looks like it has some surface neglect, which can be taken care of, you got it for a steal. I've seen shitty SKSs go for just as much as a good one
>>
I was wrong, there is a very small print importing mark to atlanta georgia.
>>
I appreciate all the help guys. Guess ill hold onto it and clean it up real good.

Your rifle is military surplus but it's impossible to tell beyond wear on the gun if it was used or not. These rifles went all over the world and were used everywhere. The surface rust means nothing.

My yugo m59, for example, has all the bluing worn off the gas tube which indicates some prolonged wear and that it was probably carried. Dents in the stock mean nothing because that can just be a neglectful owner here in the states, but severe bluing wear means use.
>>
>>31602216
Awesome, again i had no idea about these. So i appreciate any information i can get. Seems china is really hush hush about these.

Yea theres an excellant website devoted exclusively to chinese sks's that you should find. There's also a site called yooper john who has a good sks page. Find both of those and read up if you are interested.

It doesn't sound like you know much about firearms which is ok but don't let /k/ tell you this is a bad rifle. People have started hating on it for no reason like the mosin. They are extremely tough rifles that will probably outlast you. All milled guns like these are very expensive to buy new so there's a lot of value there. Enjoy it
