It's pretty decent. Hopefully we get a few things few.

I'm really hoping they streamline the whole licensing procedure and cut the red-tape. Like merging, Cat A with Cat B, getting rid of PTAs (or cutting the waiting time down), stuff like that.

ASIS weren't allowed to carry guns after that.

Getting Top Secret Positive security clearance sucks, extremely invasive questioning and you pretty much have to divulge every little thing about your life, like what porn you watch, what drugs you do, how many and who have you had sex with, etc.

If I was going for a job that required that again, I would seriously reconsider it, because I'm a really private person.

I wonder if, with the weight of cars and trucks from peak hour traffic, they'd be able to structurally weaken Sydney Harbour Bridge enough to bring it down.

I imagine people would probably have enough time to be able to get out of their cars and run off the bridge, but bringing that down would be hugely symbolic, and would cost the local Sydney economy probably billions of dollars, not to mention the global recognition of it.

cunt an official part of the story was that some people in the cafe didn't think a shooting was happening

>

The next table had held a group of ten friends,[11] but some had just left the table to return their meal trays and visit the gift shop. Bryant fired one shot that killed Kevin Vincent Sharp, 68.[11] The second hit Walter Bennett, passed through his body and struck Raymond John Sharp, 67, Kevin Sharp's brother, killing both.[11] The three had their backs towards Bryant, and were unaware what was happening. They at first believed someone was letting off firecrackers. One of them made the comment "That's not funny" after hearing the first few shots, not realising that they were real. The shots were all close range, with the gun at, or just inches away from, the back of their heads. Gerald Broome, Gaye Fidler and her husband John, were all struck by bullet fragments, but survived.[11]

>They at first believed someone was letting off firecrackers.
>The shots were all close range, with the gun at, or just inches away from, the back of their heads.

for reference, an AR-15 fires .223 and just plain old .22lr is loud enough to be heard from 50 meters+ outdoors. .223 indoors will deafen you if you're not wearing earpro.

There are multiple theories going around, I'll greentext a few:

>1. The Cafe shooting was real, but was used to kill double agents and various other loose ends who were staying inside the Cafe at the time. The planned shooting was supposed to happen in another place at the same time, everyone inside the cafe believed that they were not going to be harmed. When the operator opened fire, everyone inside was helpless. The government ended up using the coverup as an official story to pass gun control. Bryant was used as a scapegoat.

>2. The shooting never happened, and the entire event was staged to pass gun control. This (in my opinion) is probably the least likely option.

>3. Bryant wasn't going to do the shooting at all, some intelligence agency conducted the entire massacre with well trained operatives (the guy was firing from the hip and ended up getting more headshots than bodyshots. that shit is basically only taught to special forces, everyone else is taught to acquire targets with sights first) and ended up using Bryant as a scapegoat, again to pass gun control.

>4. Some intelligence agency was doing something on the island at the time, completely fucked up beyond all repair, and decided to cover up their mistake by killing everyone who witnessed it and blaming it on some loner kid that was sitting in a cafe. Howard was not aware of this, was lead to believe that the shooting was real, became enraged and passed gun control in an honest but misguided attempt to stop gun crime.

The audio tapes with martin bryant talking to the police about how they need to withdraw their snipers because they don't want to shoot their "main man" are bloody weird. He also calls the guy by another name and while bryant is on the phone you can hear someone firing in the background. Reminder Sydney Siege has had a royal commision and like 2 inquests and port arthur got NOTHING. literally swept under the rug.

>>31601906
You forgot to mention that the snipers were operating in the middle of the night about 200 meters away, and Bryant also pinpointed the movements of police officers 150 meters away who were crawling and sneaking through bushes to get civilians.

No NVGs were ever found.
>>
>>31601919
Also bryant told the cop on the phone to call back the snipers with the infrared scopes. How the fuck would he know they are using NVS?

If we can't trust cops to keep a gun at home or be able to use a gun at a gun range without supervision, how the fuck can we trust them to carry them in public? Licensed cat H holders are required to have a minimum number of shoots a year to retain their license, the cops have no such requirement. We've got dropouts patrolling the streets with guns who barely know how to use them and are attracted to positions of power and authority. If you want "gun control" disarm the fucking cops, or train them better.

but cops want better training the service/force just won't pay for it (and is concerned about liability).

there is alot more articles then that, this was just one of the first ones I found.
Coppers want more training but management feels they can't pay the range rental fees or that it's not a valid issue.
Police in Australia VERY rarely have to use their firearms.

in the state I live in their range got full up of lead and work place health and safety wouldn't practically let them use it. There was a new range land purchased but funding got pulled with a change of government.
There are liability concerns but ultimately in my state booking out a public range for 6 hours isn't cost effective, especially since how rare police produce, let alone use firearms on the job.

It just limits proportionality and use of force (grievously bodily harm/death).
The fact that you can't use a firearm except for prescribed purposes simply limits the means you have to protect yourself.

I've seen plenty of cops detaining people, and they've pretty much always been reasonable in how they've handled it. Abuses of power in that way are pretty uncommon, which is obvious when every time a cop even handles his gun without even firing, it's news.

Usually when the abuses do happen, they're politically motivated too, as in some higher up, or some politician has stepped in and influenced how the ordinary cop should act. You see this most often at rallies and shit.

Complete bullshit
Bolt actions and other stuff are fine for the hobby, recreational hunter that shoots a couple of times a year, I do professional culling of pigs, goats, deer and a variety of other invasive species. So I use high capacity semi-autos for the simple reason that we deal with plague proportions of feral animals beyond the point of what anyone in the cities can comprehend. The damage the do to the environment and agriculture is vast, expensive and in some cases is going to cause extinctions of some types of flora and already putting a lot of our native fauna on the brink of extinction.
(Once that's gone, we're gunna be in real trouble)
The only natural predator to these things is us and we're the reason they're here, so it is our responsibility to manage our country, protect native species and leave something for the next generation.

Glad you're getting a gun, great you're going to go shoot some feral animals. But you're not doing it on the scale that needs to be done, you might come home with half a dozen bunnies or a billygoat- I have to spend some weekends culling 3-400 goats or 200 odd pigs and frankly, its a minor dent in their numbers.

Along with the greens being insensible idiots, ignorant amateur hour opinions, coupled along with ridiculous laws do nothing to help me or anyone else with a genuine need for a semi-auto.

I'm mid-north coast of NSW, but I do culling from there as far north west as Narrabri-Moree and about as far south as Canberra. Most of my stuff is on either council, state land and national parks along with a dozen or so farms, including my own. Qld, lot of the country out west towards Charleville, Blackall and Longreach region has had some major fox and pig infestations over the years- though crossing borders and the laws with guns is pretty difficult so I've not been there for about 20 odd years. Used to know a couple of fox shooters up that way who'd literally make a living culling them but I think the market for fur dropped out some time ago.

I'm moving up there in a few weeks and it looks like they're the only pistol club in the area.

Looking good m80, is that one of those weird mossberg 94 copies? how are they? ive always loved how on the 94's half of their guts fall down when you work the lever. real 94's are expensive though so im looking at one of the mossbergs.

lever actions arent good for target shooting period, the only advantage they have over a bolt gun is being handy to carry around, and being better for follow up shots

Nope, genuine '94
And it's an absolute dream the dove tail sites took me a little getting used to but apart from that I don't have a single complaint
>>
>>31613471
Fuck me, looks like it's (mostly) ICORE stuff.

Oh well, I guess it's better than nothing.
I was hoping for IPSC, but I can settle.

buy a rifle/calibre suited to what ever you intend to do with it, recoil shouldn't be a deciding factor between two very different calibres.
>>
>>31613306
I've got an sp01. Fuckig love it
>>
>>31613359
You need more picatinny rails on that thing
>>
>>31613505
Ah awesome, ive heard the mossbergs have all kinds of issues anyway. ill inherit a pre 64 1894 some day, but that day is a long way away.

What is this reference bullshit for licensing? I have to be mates with the local police chief for a year so he can verify me to be of "good character"?
>>
>>31613663
Not just doin the ole under the table rub n tug.
It's like you don't even want your gun anon
>>
>>31613663
Where are you? You shouldn't need a reference for a cat A or B, I don't know about H.

Otherwise, just get your GP to do it or someone like that.

What gun tattoos do you lads have?

>Work near airport.
>Entire area is under purview of the AFP.
>Go to the local chicken shop for lunch.
>Start munching on my wings and look up to see an AFP officer standing in line finger fucking his Glock.
>He starts to pull it to the very edge of the retention hold and then let's it fling back down the holster where it makes a loud click noise.
>Does this for five minutes, even whilst sitting down eating, people walking through his hot zone.

Cops are scary amounts of stupid.

People died anon, that's why you have to give up your slingshots.

Fuck off back to your inner city Melbourne commune.

Come on now, it could be worse, at least compound bows will still be available to licensed shooters.

please just go back to enjoying AFL and leave masculinity to the rest of Australia

>>31618684
They are mostly man babies with a lust for power. The kind of people who sign up to be a cop are the same kind who shouldn't be one.

What's a good compound bow to buy? I want to get one before they get banned.

Must be depressing for pathetic cunts like you, feeling so worthless that you don't think your life is worth protecting. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing in this world more valuable than my life and it's immoral to prevent me from defending it by any means necessary.

You're fine with armoured guards protecting bits of plastic with guns, but an individual's life is a big no no. Jesus you lefties are cucks..
>>
>>31624380
"any means necessary"

lol what a faggot.

I don't want to be that guy, but you do know it's a crime for you to use your gun for self defense in any way shape or form right? You will wind up in jail with no guns forever after that if you do. You are not even allowed to put down on your licence application the reason for wanting one as self defense, it is an immediate rejection.

Seriously this isn't fucking America, what the hell are you doing in this country that requires you have a firearm to defend yourself from? I couldn't think of one logical occasion where driving or walking away and calling the police would solve the problem and I would get to keep my guns.
>>
>>31624542
>it's a crime for you to use your gun for self defense in any way shape or form right.

No it isn't. You just can't buy a gun for self defense, as you said. If you happen to have a gun for another reason, you can use it in self defense. It's just quite a task to convince the judge that you were justified in using lethal force.

>Seriously this isn't fucking America, what the hell are you doing in this country that requires you have a firearm to defend yourself from?

People in Melbourne are starting to form vigilante gangs to protect themselves from crime. I think that means that things aren't all sunshine and lollypops.
