Several of my shooting buddies are MDSP, none of them remark.

Not him. Different RI fag, but cc is wierd in this state. The law says shall issue, but until recently every local pd refused to even look at an application and some didn't even have applications. Some guy in providence sued and forced the police to accept applications, but most towns just copied the state attorney general's application which isn't meant for private citizens and doesn't really make sense in that context. Some towns added ridiculously high fees to their applications. On top of everything self defense is not considered a valid reason for a cc permit.

Basically the law and the legislature say one thing, but the police chiefs do the opposite.

My theory is like everything in RI linked with privileges and money. The way it is pretty much the only way to carry as a civilian is to be a former cop which means the cops have a lock on every security job in the state after they retire. Instant, easy second career.
