So despite taking a major hit, the thing is still floating and nobody died.
>Steel hulls BTFO
>Aluminum master race wins again
How many died tho?
>>31570724
It still baffles me that metal ships burn so easy. And this is coming from an ocean engineer at A&M
>huge secondaries caught on video
>nobody died
Fuck off sunni shill
>>31570776
>>31570799
Alright, so I don't actually know if anybody died or not. But the hull is definitely still floating. The ship was damaged, but not sunk.
>>31570724
Hit by what ?
>>31570797
Then you need to retake your chemisty classes
>>31570825
Being sunk or not is irrelevant. That thing is a wreck.
>>31571031
Nah, it's got the whole Mad Max aesthetic that is all the rage right now.
>>31570776
The UAE is saying zero, but I don't think they've even admitted it was hit by a missile so they're not very credible.
>>31570797
they're full of shit that isn't metal like paint and wire jacketing and fuel
>>31571107
Fun fact, if you've got a jet/rocket fuel fire burning, it's so hot that even without direct contact with the fire you'll autoignite paint in adjacent areas to it!
>>31570797
>>31570826
probably a donkey-mounted trebuchet
>>31570797
Metal, especially lighter metals can burn like a mother fucker. Fire extinguishers don't have a class D for the clap son.
>>31570797
>how do you find out if someone is an engineer
>they'll fucking tell you
>>31571380
note to self:
stop using fire extinguishers for the clap, it doesnt work.
Trimarans are hard to sink. News at 11.
But this ship isnt going to sail anymore.
>>31570797
>It still baffles me that metal ships burn so easy. And this is coming from an ocean engineer at A&M
I know that feel bro, it still baffles me how stone houses burn so easily.
Because stone can't burn duh ! :Dis mayggz no zennz :D :D :D Beoble musd be ztoobid :D
>imblyin :D
>benis :D
>fug :D
Also this ship is aluminium-made. I'm pretty sure you know a thing or two about fire and aluminium.
>>31570826
Chinese C-802 antiship missile or its iranian version. Yemen had some prior to the war. The ship was totally helpless, no countermeasures.
>>31571438
I apologize for that anon's transgressions/niggerfaggotry.
>>31571455
Technically it's not a trimaran but a catamaran. The central hull has no real buoyancy purpose.
>>31570724
I wouldnt describe that as a major hit, it didnt evev take damage at the waterline
>>31571721
The thing appears to have been fully involved. After looking at other angles, I can't even tell where the initial hit was, because there's signs that the hull was burned through all over the front half, as you'd expect from a major fire.
>>31570776
>first post in charge of reading comprehension
>1000 ton civilian ferry
>hit by a AShM
>no damage control
>burns for hours
>still floating days later
Kind of impressive actually, even if the fire made the ship a total loss.
>>31571721
>I wouldnt describe that as a major hit
>>31571887
Well to look at it one way you can say this is a intelligence and engineering boon for the USN and Incat. They got a whole class of ships riding on this fast logistics ship concept. To have it both hit with an antiship missile and still afloat will give the US interesting insight on future construction and design input.
Regardless that it wont sail anymore, it being intact presents a massive learning experience.
That is why you buy American. Chinese made missiles can only give you so much. Atleast the warhead even exploded. It would be normal if it didn't.
>>31570826
>>31571671
Nobody is totally sure.
c-802 or clone seems to be likely just like anon said.
but i remember a few sources claiming it was a shoulder fired missile.
...i think it was the UAE that claimed that.
>>31571441
Mfw trying to explain athe work why I'm laughing so hard
Reports indicate that the missile directly hit it on the bow. From the looks of it, the missile hit it port side and the resulting fireball and remains exited starboard.
>>31571031
Pretty much yeah. The thing will be scrapped no doubt.
>>31571139
But will it melt steel beams?
>>31570724
Dont you mean aluminium?
If a 16 inch HE shell hit it, there wouldn't be anything left.
Battleship master race
>>31570724
Boat engineer here. It still baffles me that metal ships can float so easily, being heavier than water.
