The former is a flak jacket, that is only going to stop 9mm at best. Make sure there is actually the kevlar inside and that you are not just buying the vest. Was used by the muslim nigger who shot up the hyper kasher in france if that means anything though.
The later is probably the most unergonomic bullet proof vest that has ever been adopted by a military. That shit is heavy and cumbersome as fuck, and was only bearable on static duty.

Don't be a retard and buy some real plate carrier with molle on it.

I also recommend Chicom chest rigs which you can get on Amazon for $20, or the SADF rigs that you can find on Kommando Store. Personally, I really like Russian Splav gear but you'll have to pay a little more since they're imported.

I know jackshit about the french vest but those old german vests can be surprisingly durable.
An anon on here tested a few out surprisingly religiously.
They stood up to most pistol calibers and buckshot if memory serves.
A rough level 2 equivalence, not bad for cold war detritus and probably damn functional in it's intended role.
All that said, it's surplus kevlar and that's it's own can of worms. Aramids age like seafood.

a reported problem with that particular armor was that it slowed rifle bullets down just enough to give them a vicious tumble that did much more damage.

I love all these fat and/or prissy fucks advising you to get "muh armor" instead of flak protection.

If you're in a situation where you're getting shot at, you're going to be fucking dead regardless of your armor. Flak is better if you want a good combination of mobility and ricochet protection.
