What went wrong? How did Colt manage to fuck up Stoner and Knight's

It wasn't roller locked at all, where are you getting that? It's typical short-recoil, locked-breech, just that the barrel rotates rather than tilts.

Rotating short-recoil? Yes it did, as does the PX4 pistol (except the subcompact one, which utilizes the more typical tilting barrel).

It's not a bad system if you want to make it work, given that it goes straight back, it lends itself to a bit better inherent accuracy, while still having the same short-recoil effect.
Of course, it's a bit more complex to machine.

The biggest problem was the shitty trigger, the cause was the Double Action Only trigger engineered to fully cock the striker from 0% load before each and ever shot, unlike the glock which has a precocked striker and safety system backing it up.

Sure you made a safe, safetyless pistol but the trigger will always feel like you are fighting the striker spring with every trigger pull.

It has a ball-bearing in it's trigger, which is supposed to make it nicer to pull, and on the original trigger, this works, but the Colt weighs in at 12-13lbs at each pull, the ball-bearing does nothing to fix this horrible trigger.

I doubt the reason that ian gave (lawyers) was the reason for the shitty trigger, they probably strengthened the striker spring for more reliable primer ignition and hurt the trigger pull in turn.

Beretta managed to pull of the rotating barrel design in the end. They are fun shooters.
