Is Palmetto's Freedom Rifle trash or nah?

They're cheap as fuck and I might buy a parts kit and throw one together.

There is absloutly nothing wrong with PSA lowers. The uppers aren't the best in the world but I own two and don't mind either. If I'm making a budget AR for someone, PSA is my go-to.

The freedom stainless 1/7 twist model is alright
>>
>>31562752
not trash, just entry level. if you dont have a spare AR, it might not be a bad idea to get one.
lend it to friends and possibly sell it during a panic if you need the cash.
>>
>>31562788
Yeah, you're really going to need that extra .5MOA when your'e shooting at 100m
>>
>>31562783

What can you expect out of an AR15 with a crappy upper? Do they actually shoot badly, or are they just less wear-resistant?
>>
>>31562788
Have you ever even shot more than 100 yards with an AR
Do you even own an AR?
>>
>>31562752
Meh. I assume it's fine, quality wise, but I'd ruther get the A2 parts kit from Midwayusa for $489 and throw it together myself.

Whatever you do, do it in the next two or three weeks. Storm's coming.

It's doing well in the rob ski test and that polski don't lie

palmetto doesn't sell any free float uppers?
>>
>>31562809

Typically? Not necessarily as accurate (but probably still more accurate than you), worse fit and finish, worse ergonomics and accessory mounting systems, cheaper parts which might lead to faster wear: especially the BCG.

My ~$1400 DDM4 is a better rifle than my ~$600 rattle canned bullshit homebuild but not buy such a margin as to invalidate the existence of the cheap one. I actually like shooting my spray painted green monster (pictured above) more sometimes because I it's light, fun & I beat the shit out of it and give zero fucks.
>>
>>31562821
spotted the fag who buys into marketing and actually thinks that .25moa is going to matter under field conditions with a barrel you would actually want to lug around

>>31562752
I like mine. Use the daily deals though to buy a few things separately though. I built mine for like $500 by just using the deals to buy upper, lower, and a combo CH+BCG. I even saw a deal for an upper with a freefloat already on it + bcg & ch for cheap the other day.

I was hoping they would sell the furniture in special snowflake colors, but I'll probably just end up spraypainting it.

>The Galil series of weapons is in use with military and police forces in over 25 countries.
It's the South African service rifle. Not exactly ubiquitous, but it does have a world presence.

There's the Tavor, but it isn't exactly popular.

Heh, apparently my home state's capitol police force is going to use it as their go-to rifle.

I'm not saying that proves anything...just wanted to point out an example.

"What is it like to fire an AR-15? It’s horrifying, menacing and very very loud.

It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

But mostly, I was just terrified.

Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable."

I have a build with a PSA freedom 1:7 midlength 16" stainless upper and a PSA classic lower with a generic AIM BCG and ch. I haven't had any issues with it at all. It was about $450.

I have a PSA premium, I don't know what difference that makes, but it hits man sized targets at 500m with no problem. Through almost 1500 rounds it's never malfunctioned. It's not super fancy or incredibly accurate but it gets the job done. I like mine.
>>
>>31563533
They call it sandman because sand goes in to ejection port.
>>
>>31562897
Yeah, dude, marketing is all about selling you those free float hand guards that are better than the clamshells in every way.
>>
>>31563584
the only time they suffer noticeable departure from zero is when they are put under significant tension. unless you're a skilled marksman under match conditions with appropriate ammunition you won't ever notice this. and even then it's more barrel profile than hand guard.
keep buying into that kentucky long rifle mythos though.
>>
>>31562752
Got one in stainless it's OK for the money
I noticed allot of wear on the bcg after less than 100 round's which suprised me

I drove a Prius once and it changed me forever. As soon as I climbed inside the minimalist brutalist interior of this carbon fiber Japanese death machine it was as if I was driving a monster truck. I pushed start. The engine was a throaty roar like a thousand nuclear jet bombers. I immediately soiled my trousers to prevent this beast of the land of hentai from raping me. Tentacles are NOT OKAY. In my haste to escape, I touched a lever, and the windshield wipers began beating like a reaper’s sickle threshing horror. Trying to reach the escape handle, I struck a phallus-like pole, and lights began to blink. Blink. Blink. A light. A terrible, red, light! BLINK BLINK! Shrieking and flailing, I clutched desperately at the door, and tumbled, helpless, into the street. In the cold New York City rain, I lay there helpless and soiled in the gutter. The terrifying Prius looming over me, asserting its alpha dominance, and I crawled away. Forever.

by upper do you mean the barrel or do you mean upper assembly? I can see how meh barrels will effect accuracy, but not so much the upper part.
