Fish is good and easy food after all, so might as well post.

Would that do anything else than make a loud pop? Seems like anything less than cannon ammo wouldn't really do much

Those fish traps look excellent for SHTF
Some of these traps are seriously questionable. Namely

The bow and arrow seems pretty convoluted. The bullet thing wouldn't be a whole lot, if at all, more effective than pungi sticks. Ive never used a pitfall trap, but eating anything out of one would probably be disgusting.

One of the most interesting traps I've heard of is the shotgun shell mine.
You use a nail or a screw through some plywood, rest the primer of the shell on top of the head of the nail/screw. Then cover the sides in dirt and rest another piece of thin plywood on top. Anyone who steps on it gets bbs and maybe wood shrapnel through their legs and genitals. Not sure how effective it would actually be but it sounds like it would cause some damage and atleast slow down the enemy.

But, now seriously

If you had some sort of barrel mounted around the round, it would.
But you're correct. It wouldn't do too much considering that there is nothing to compress the gasses and push the projectile at high velocity.
If you used a huge center fire round, you could potentially create a small anti personnel mine,

would get trapped
