Yes. He's an incredibly good instructor. He goes into detail demonstrating, gives you the "why" when he shows you a new technique or whatever and he legit cares. Also if you notice, he puts a huge emphasis on biomechanical efficiency in shooting and does constant research with sports medicine doctors on finding new techniques.

His classes are $800 but that doesn't stop me from wanting to go.

And yes, he was a Recon Marine for most of his career. I also have a huge mancrush on him. He's legit the Bruce Lee of shooting. His approach to shooting is extremely similar to Bruce Lee's approach to martial arts.

Yeah, I have a LOT more combat experience than him. He tried to treat the other SOF guys at MagPul like he was their best bud, but we could see the charade. MARSOC weren't under JSOC during the war because they weren't trusted by McChrystal. What you got was a bunch of glamorized Marines pulling detail for regional level intel. No JSOC; no responsibility. Haley literally saw more action with a civilian company than he did when he was in the Corps. While I was on the Marauder Rapids clearing operation, Travis was teaching rich fat dudes and their wives how to use a safety. Jealous, I am not. I don't like him because he's a snake.

The Marines got tired of getting the shaft and being passed over for not having a SOCOM element, after decades of refusing to Force and BN recon do anything but support MAGTF's. The precursor MARSOC unit was allegedly responsible for the Shinwar massacre in 2007 and Maj Gen Kearney kicked them out of afg. MARSOC was still stood up but continued to be sidelined because of the their rocky start.

The ironic thing is that MARSOC drained Force and BN recon, and the guys who left ended up doing not much more than they would've been had they stayed. Supposedly the Raider-SOCOM/JSOC relationship is improving, but that's all second hand info

I should hope so. The general feeling around SOCOM (when I was still in) was that the decisions made by MARSOC were a bit...strange. The 1911s, Woodland camo BDUs, and joint training exercises at Lejeune left a lot of my former compatriots scratching their heads. Their NCOIC allegedly didn't have a background in the infantry or any other combat arms either.
