If I recall the British Empire at that time had one of the strongest armies and navies in the world. The reason they won wasn't because they were more fit. They just didn't stand in a goddamn line and shoot, they hid in the bushes and woods, shot and then hauled ass usually. But most milita and minutemen were younger too than average Brit soldiers. The majority of them from paintings and images looked like skinny fats so far, not some beefed up farm boy, more like a backwoods hick farmer with a gun.
