Suppose, in some modern conflict, you need to use blitzkrieg. Is it worth equipping men with full gear, or is it best to revert to someone cheaper?

We spend something like $17,000 USD per soldier, while in WW2 it was only about $200.

We spend 11.6 million dollars per day fighting ISIS.

Is that indexed for inflation?

Yes, but I'm sure it was must cheaper to equip a soldier in WW2.
>>
>>31505673
They also had considerably less gear than we do today

mainly training and over priced equipment

FUCKING FUDDLORE REEEE
It took us 200 dollars IN 1940
Indexed for inflation that's $3440 per soldier, and the rest of the discrepancy comes from us giving modern shit to troops, like NODs, modern holographic sights, gps systems, magnifiers, more ammo, body armor, etc.

How accurate is that really?

I mean is it averaged or is every american soldier really running around with like 15k+ worth of Night vision, Holo-sights etc.

like does billy the waterboy really have a 10k FLIR type sight?

Sights are often purchased by the individual soldier.

But yes, every soldier in a rifle platoon is supposed to have NODs, body armor, and whatnot. They're also trained to a MUCH higher standard and for much longer.

Average joe is issued 17000 dollars of kit. Special bois get more. IE GPNV 18s, Crye Gear, JPCs/CPC/AVS, PEQ-16s, Elcan Spectres, suppressors, OPS Core and MICH 2002, well, you get the picture. A 75th guy told me that the MSRP on all of his gear was somewhere in the 50k range, but I'm not sure about that. Granted he did have a Mk46.

A WWII-tier soldier costs closer to 3000 dollars in modern dollars, and is given Fudd-tier training.

The average WWII soldier was also a conscript, which is why it was that way in the first place. Future conscripts would get a similar deal.

Yeah those are 17000 WW2 dollers.
