I keep 4 17 round mags for my P320SC in my center console and a box hollow point ammo in the glovebox.
On top of the 2 spare 12rd mags on my person, bringing my on person round count to 37, the vehicular reserve to 68, and the box of ammo adds 50 to that.
so I have 105 rounds ready to go, and 155 rounds all things considered.
When the weather gets more frigid the SC gets replaced by the full size meaning the round count only goes up.
I'm pretty fucking set for SHTF in terms of sustained defensive capability while on the road or out of the house.

I have a full-sized S&W M&P9 Condition 3 (Israeli Method) 17 round mag loaded with Hydra-Shok 147 grain HPs, and two more mags, one with the same and the other with just Winchester white box 124g, as well as a go-bag with some medical supplies, food, water and water purification, and 300 rounds of 9mm FMJs. It's all in my car which I keep behind my store, which is also exceedingly hard to get to due to a fence and automated gate with security leading to the back area of where I work, and I have a camera in the back lot where I can see my car at any time.

I don't carry at work because of where I work but I do carry two knives and my 9 is close enough to get to in any real happening so I feel more than safe.

Seeing all these people talk about having spare mags in their cars, I might end up doing that. I wouldn't trust a spare firearm for the possibility of getting stolen, but a couple spare loaded mags are better off in my glove box than in my nightstand miles away from my carry gun. I have many other guns much better than a subcompact 9mm for home defense.

Technically? Yeah it would be legal.

Depends though, I think the ATF says it must rotate a certain amount or the crank needs to be one revolution so if you made a tiny, tiny crank that moves the "barrels" a fifth of a rotation each per revolution of the hand crank then I think yes that would be legal.
