That's a Knoxx stock. That doesn't count. I used to have one on my 870 and would shoot 3" magnums with one hand to show how it worked. It takes away basically all of the recoil.

I have a 18" mossberg that I bought because it was cheap and because muh pumpgun and I honestly don't shoot it much but keep it because it was only a couple hundred bucks

You started too big. That's like going anal on the first time.
Shoot an AR at some steel targets and you'll have more fun. Most people frankly suck at shooting, and the reason is they started too big and developed nasty flinching habits. Its kind of like a tolerance. I can shoot most anything now without bad habits and hold very acceptable groups. Ideally, a .22 rifle is the best starting point.

Recoil wasn't nearly what I thought it would be. A big part is to not be scared of it. I fired the Mosin first and thought "Well, that wasn't bad at all" and rapid fired the shotgun. Hold your gun properly and don't be scared of the recoil, if my bony ass can do it then so can you.

a lot of people on /k/ only shoot a few mags worth of full sized rifle ammunition or 12g slugs. this is because most of /k/ is poorfags or only shoot milsurp in the local garbage pit till they get bored. if youre going to be shooting more than a few dozen rounds of either in a rifle with no padding or a steel buttplate you need to either get used to most of your shoulder being bruised or buy a recoil pad.
