So /k/, a guy just got shot in my town by the cops.
Of course he was on his way to murder his family and then commit suicide by cop, but that didn't stop BLM from protesting.
The thing is, I have a friend who lives on the same street as the shooting, and he doesn't seem to have any interest in buying a gun, even for self-defense. Despite all his friends owning guns and going shooting with us a couple times.
How do I convince him to get a gun? How do I drive home the importance of self defense to someone who seems rather apathetic to the whole situation.
break into his house and show him how easy it is to be robbed/raped/murdered
(note to police; this is a joke and not an endorsement for OP to actually commit a crime)
>>31487472
>implying my friend isn't a gigantic faggot who wants to get raped.
But in all seriousness, I've talked to him about that and he just says "eh" like he knows it could happen, but doesn't care enough to consider it to be a real possibility.
>>31487472
Just tie him up and brainwash him clockwork orange style, so the only way he is ever happy is if he buys a new gun once a year.
*BOOM BOOM CRASH*
That's all it takes for a burglar to break into your house
tell him that
>>31487492
Will do.
>>31487475
Then there's literally nothing you can do
You can't force people to be responsible for themselves, that's lib talk
>>31487460
I've got a friend like that. Reason and argumentation got me nowhere with him. Then, like poetry, his house got invaded in the middle of the day by a couple of "diverse" individuals that beat his anime-loving ass into the ground and made off with a laptop and xbox in the span of 60 seconds.
Now he's armed with a Hi-Point. He won't get the CPL though because he says "the chances of something like that happening in the middle of the street are slim".
Some people just learn more slowly than others.
>>31487460
You can't.
Some people have been sheltered from danger so much that they can't really understand real danger, and even if they would prepare for such a situation they would just freeze when shit hit the fan.
>>31487519
You're friend sounds fucking retarded.
I live in Maryland so I'd give anything for a CHL.
If you sit for more than 6 hours a day your chances of a heart attack go up dramatically.
Buying a standup desk will increase his life expectancy more than buying a gun will.
The reason we have a second amendment and not mandatory military service is because people are supposed to be free to not have a gun if they dont want to. Having a gun is more than just buying one, not being shit with it is a long term commitment. It would be smarter for everyone to just buy a standup desk.
You cant prepare for all potential threats to your life.
>>31487529
He's an old college friend that fell into the "muh liberal paradise" fad. My guess is that he's just trying to maintain an image of being a paragon of reasonable gun-use and sees conceal carry as a gun-nut thing.
So yeah, he's retarded, but I gotta keep people like him around to talk about stupid nerd shit.
Makes me wonder what he'll do next when he gets mugged in broad daylight.
>>31487492
He should get better doors/house not a gun then because thry can still get in when he's not home.
>>31487552
>ever not being at home
>not driving your house to work
>>31487552
That's what homeowner's insurance is for, you silly goose. No amount of life insurance is going to save you personally from an attack.

>>31487537
Well, hopefully he comes to terms with the realities of self-defense without needing a(nother) life or death situation.
>>31487552
If you're not home while someone invades your home, you can't defend yourself from that person anyway...
>>31487552
that's where you're wrong kiddo
>>31487578
What cracks me up most about the pic is that its supposed to look like a shitty, bargain-bin booby trap, but it has so many unnecessary steps.
>>31487585
and it doesn't even work. It'll just pull the trigger forwards, not backwards.
>>31487558
>Get Yanked out of your house at gunpoint
>House is now not house but gone

I'm sure there is a pivot in the center of that bar to the trigger.

Leave him, the weak should die.

Is that drive in movie lot still open?
>>31487460
You don't, it's a free country and your friend has the right to keep guns out of his home, just as you have a right to hoard them and act autistic on the internet
>>31487485
perfect, lol'd
>>31487460
Break into their houses and rape them
>>31487460
If someone doesn't want the responsibility of their own self-defense, that is their choice. Trying to hamfist firearm ownership doesn't help anyone.

you really don't have any excuse, these days

>The reason we have a second amendment and not mandatory military service is because people are supposed to be free to not have a gun if they dont want to.
No, that's not the reason at all. The second amendment is there to stop the government from infringing on an already existing right. It has nothing to do with whether you want to own guns or not. It's simply saying that the government cannot interfere with the basic human right to defend themselves.
just shoot him

Rockville and Pasadena anon here
>>31487460
Maybe he has a gun, or multiple guns, already, and he just doesn't want you or anyone else to know because he's super discreet.

Top kek
>>31487460
Put on a balaclava and head to his house at 2am. Play with the door handles, bang on the windows, maybe throw a rock through the window and pretend to try and open it from the inside, but then quickly run away before you get caught.
Don't actually break in. That would be very illegal and a very bad thing to do to your friend, and you could probably get caught that way.

>>31487475
I've had this same conversation with my family about owning; fire extinguishers, working smoke detectors, medical supplies, 2 weeks food & water, and a back-up plan for an earthquake.
They just get mad at me for bringing it up. There is nothing you can do for the mindset some people have.
>>31495740
Your family is nuts. Even my libtard friends in Silicon Valley have an earthquake kit.
>Of course he was on his way to murder his family and then commit suicide by cop, but that didn't stop BLM from protesting.

The source is his friend whom he told and then called the police.
