SSAA (for the $25k insurance - I look at it as ~$100p/a insurance with a free magazine. Priced insurance myself and they wanted ~$400 for the same)

The A&B is on DNRE/DSE $13 crown land hunting registration.

No shooters union in vic.

Yes cat H through a Melbourne club (not ssaa). Class 2 & 3, no air pistols. Three classes = more participation than I can be fucked with.

Interested in FOUs three gun.

One of my mates who used to be anti-gun just up and got his a/b on his own and bought a .22 - just "figured out he should have one" on his own.

Another mate has been told he can't have a gun in his own house that he invited his gf to move into with him. Don't think she'll even "let him" have the license. Fucking pathetic if you ask me.

I once was banging this qt and out at drinks the gun thing came up. She said if we were ever together together, I couldn't have any guns in our house. I said "best I can do is you not knowing, and never seeing said gun - but there's zero chance of me not having a gun in my own house." - it didn't work out. She lives in England now #irony nobody she dates there will have a gun, and she just got mugged by two upstanding gents on a motorcycle #gunfreeparadise

You've got to remember that we're winning.
We've pushed back every attempt they've had in the last few years, and even managed to get a few things of our own through.
Gun owners in general are also getting much more vocal, and general public perception is shifting back towards gun rights.

Just because the media shills it constantly doesn't mean that's what people actually believe.
Look at the US presidential debate. Every media source loudly proclaiming that Clinton won, when every poll suggests the opposite.

I've told my girlfriend in very clear terms that if she ever says "It's me or the ____", then I'm taking the ____.

Householders who kill or injure a home invader escape prosecution provided they can prove they had a genuine belief that it was necessary to do so to protect themselves or their family. The law was strongly opposed by then-Director of Public Prosecutions Paul Rofe, QC, and lawyer Marie Shaw, who is now a District Court Judge.

Reminder that the latest inquest into gun violence (initiated by the greens to get more ammunition to ban shit in 2015) resulted in the suggestion of the deregulation of long-arms (like Canada and New Zealand).

http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Legal_and_Constitutional_Affairs/Illicit_firearms/Report

If you read any of it, read the recommendations at the start, and possible the international comparisons towards the end.

Aussie poor nogunz in SE QLD here.

Technically American by birth, I dream of the day it won't cost half a fucking fortune and require a friggin circus to own decent firearms.

Even if only to pracitce maintenance and appreciate craftmanship, I sorely want the gun laws to improve/slacken appropriately.

The olny gun I've shot was a .357 magnum on a range at 14 years old. I long for the day I can own my own firearm.

CZ455 is normally the go
If you're Feeling patriotic you can go with the Lithgow LA101 Crossover which is basically an Australian CZ.

>Nice snipers
If you mean something actually used by military and police (like shown in pic) it's gonna cost you lods of emone, if you just mean a rifle for long range shooting there are plenty of moderately priced options. Since you're in QLD you are able to buy the Ruger Precision rifle.

Its a breach of trust in my opinion. If I just walked out of my room with a rifle-sized hardbag every other day and came home smelling of gunpowder, they would be suspicious. So I decided to just be like:

When it comes to libs who have researched the topic and made up their minds that "gunz r bad", they tend to be smart enough to agree to disagree or avoid arguing at all.

Quite frankly, the facts are on our side. No reason to be afraid, which is why I told my housemates about my guns. I'm not going to let someone tell me that the thing I like is wrong when its not.

Generally city people have eaten too many of the 'scary green pills' and are vehemently against guns, out in the rural areas no one gives a shit because they're a tool much like a ute or tractor.
You get a couple of pockets of pro-guns in the city here and there, almost universally they're ex-country types or grew up around them. Biggest problem we have in the country though is the larger parties don't want us- Nats sold us down the river years ago and don't have any actual representation because they're in bed with the Libs, the Greens hate country people, the Dems fucked off years ago and no one wants Labor back in again.

I'm optimistic the smaller parties can keep the greenies from the gun safe for a little bit, but for actual long term development in our favour we really need some kind of larger support.
To some extent, having a licence does help.
You're a representative in that way by appearing as a statistic and lets face it, regular aussie gun owners don't show up on criminal records to the point it'd be a real anomaly if one did. Well, except when some criminal scumbag decides to nick them.
>>
>>31487910

>regular aussie gun owners don't show up on criminal records to the point it'd be a real anomaly if one did

I've done a bit of looking at it in regards to the Sydney shootings over the last few years and they're universally some kind of gang or drug related shenanigans. Those people already went the full fucking idiot route and have nothing to do with legit gun owners- they buy them through black market sources or from thefts.
That's an important thing to note when you're talking to people is, that the criminals have nothing to do with legal gun owners and already consider themselves outside the law.

If we can get something past them, we'll have all the "rifles" we want.

For example, said .44 magnum is a lever action, holds 10+1. Very modest barrel length. and folks cry about how someone might illegally modify their adler.

There are some. There's a handful of Leader T2s that are cat H and even a AUG Para in 9mm, I'm sure there's some more 5.56 semis out there.
The problem is importing them as a cat H, it's basically impossible. You have to find them in the country.

Mass shootings wasn't the implication. It seems to be a specifically American thing anyways, considering that getting guns in some other countries isn't really that difficult (see Canada). The implication I was making is that criminals have a tendency to not follow the law.

American politics is a whole different breed, friend. Best not compare our gun cultures and instead revel in the fact that we can all appreciate guns for what they are.

Guy finds a dude (who turns out to be a convicted home invader) in his house, according to some reports in his daughter's room, and in the ensuing struggle he ends up killing him. .50 Beowulf was originally designed so dangerous game hunters could use their normal AR mags. 10 .50 Beowulf rounds fit in a 30 round NATO mag.

Hence, you can have a 10rd Beowulf mag (which is the same as a NATO mag) and say "no it's for beowulf" and get out of jail free.

As horrific as they are, mass shootings kill hardly any people realistically. More people die in the US from lightning strikes than mass shootings.

And realistically best way to defend your life against a lunatic rampaging is by being armed yourself, not by making pointless laws. Gun laws didn't stop that clusterfuck at the Lindt cafe, and they didn't stop that cunt in Nice murdering 70 people with a truck.
>>
>>31489414
>As horrific as they are, mass shootings kill hardly any people realistically. More people die in the US from lightning strikes than mass shootings.

As much as I agree with the first half of that line, you're bretty fuggin wrong on the second half.

"NOAA says that during the 10-year period of 2004-2013, 33 people were killed and 234 were injured by lightning strikes annually. On average, lightning strikes are fatal to about 10 percent of people who are struck."

what definition of 'mass shooting' are you using, the FBI definition used by liberals to gun grab (3+ people injured in a shooting iirc) or the more public definition of mass shooting (someone rolling up to an event with a gun and spraying into crowds killing 20+ people)

because if you're using the second which is really what everyone else is, i'd say every year the number is about equal

he should have said car accidents though, something like 30,000 people die each year from those things
>>
>>31489452
I use the FBI definition, mostly because I think killing 3 people in one sitting is a lot.

Car accidents is pretty facetious to use as well, for reasons I don't really need to explain because you probably already know.

Pro-gun arguments need to be more specific. For example, when comparing murders done with rifles (of any sort) vs other tools, you find that hands and fists kill FAR, FAR more people every year than fuckin rifles.

>one sitting is a lot
The vast majority of mass shootings are basically this:

>Tyrone wants some dope
>He calls up his dealer DeShawn
>Tyrone goes to the local crackhouse
>Jamal, King Nigger of the 'Hood, heavily dislikes Tyrone
>Jamal decides to take out his 9mm NiggaBlasta (actually a .38 special revolver but hey, niggers!)
>gets 6 shots off in Tyrone's general direction
>3 of Jamal's buddies get shot, 2 die, Tyrone gets a bullet to the heart
>2 hours later the cops get access to the bodies, maybe, send the FBI a report and put the corpses in the ground

3 people dead = mass shooting = Sandy Hook 2.0 according to liberals. In white suburbs that's a big event, but in Detroit it's just day to day life.

If you killed all niggers in the US the homicide rate would drop by 60% or more, essentially in line with European countries.
>>
>>31489559
Like I said, I think killing 3 people in one sitting is a lot, even if they're redguards. Just because I think its a lot, doesn't mean you have to.

If liberals want to get their panties in a twist because of that, that's their problem, no amount of debate is going to help. The single most effective way to get a liberal to shift their views on guns is to wait for them to get attacked by a dindu. I wrote a story in a different thread about exactly this scenario and how it changed the perspective of a liberal friend of mine.

Killing all the dindus just isn't a thing we can do anymore, not in the internet age. The best thing we can do is keep abortion legal, keep everyone else armed, and hope more liberals change their minds.
>>
A mass shooting shouldn't require people to die desu. Seems ridiculous you could shoot 20 people but it's not a mass shooting.

Even one of the cleaning ladies does pistol and shotgun comps.
Then again, they're all middle aged people that remember the good ol' days.

Pretty much everyone i know is at least not against guns, and I've taken many people on range trips. Unfortunately, just about all of them don't care enough to get a licence.

I think it's fairly common for doctors to be a bit more pro-guns than the average person.

My cousin in Scotland took his kids shooting as a kid, and my own doctor (who's English, funnily enough) said when I go for my licence, he'd write me a reference if the police get uppity about my mental illness diagnosis.

its not like people try super hard to get around laws or anything either, most people are content with conventional shotguns and rifles since most people just hunt or target shoot and don't have guns to ~scare the government~ and other such politically charged things. like, ARs are restricted? cool time to get literally any other rifle then

the government should be an entity in the metaphysical sense of "should" because some body or another, whether it is an individual or a collective will, will govern a state, even if that "governance" is just a zeitgeist dictating average social and economic values. by grace of a group of people interacting by any set of rules, even personal rules dictated by personal values interacting with persons outside the self, an entity of some sort will be born from the ether to "govern" even if it can only be identified and not actively controlled or corralled

for a people who like to go on about MUH LOCKE, LE ENLIGHTENEMENT THINKIGN there doesnt seem to be much actual thinking going on about literally anything

even in an anarchist society, the existence of society means the existence of government, even if it is simply the collective will of the species

even in an individual homestead, a government will exist between parents and children, or superior and subordinate in particularly unbalanced relationships, and even among equals, the collective will and established rules of the household will apply

even in an individual person, government exists in the self exercising will over itself, in its inhibitions and activities preferred, and governance over its environment in the toil of industry and survival
>>
>>31499608
so animals have governments?
>>
>>31499613
In a rudimentary sense, yes.
>>
>>31499622
do animals have free will?
>>
>>31499626
You have free will, don't you?
>>
>>31499633
i have consciousness, whether that means free will I don't know.
>>
>>31499613
gregarious animals are a thing and travel in packs

wolves have alpha/beta hierachies formed by age and parenthood
many birds have self-organizing formations to optimize their flying
lions will form prides of a male lazing about a bunch of working females

even loner animals still impose themselves on the world by existing and interacting with the world. you can't escape it. somewhere, a wood thrush is silently oppressing you by singing as loudly as it can, without regard for your comfort. It is violating your property rights by pooping on your rightful clay.

has a bird ever denied my right to bear arms though?

tell that to the guys who have imported literally hundreds of glocks
the jewler who was caught after already selling 100+ mac 10's
the literally hundreds of thousands of guns left over since the buyback
>>
If someone finds a gun, like in an old shed or the ceiling of a house they bought, can they register and keep it assuming they have the proper license?
>>
>>31500240
You have to turn it in the moment you find it, anything else will mean you are in a possession of an illegal firearm and therefore a criminal who faces 5-10 years in prison.

No really.

Hypothetically, cover it in cosmoline and forget it exists.

Hypothetically of course.
>>
>>31500240
What gun? I don't see one.
>>
>>31500260
Well, yeah, of course you'd hand it over the the police right away. I was just wondering if they had provisions where they could hold it until it was all cleared, similar to what they do with ones you might inherit through a deceased family member.
>>
>>31500312
No, it either has to be on a registry when it is imported or back in 96 when the registry came into effect. Anything else is illegal and to be destroyed.
>>
>>31500312
Yes, sort of. With deceased estates it's easy because the person the police would love to throw the book at is dead, if you rock up with an unregistered gun you're instantly a bad-guy.

That said, it is possible, I know of guns that have been found (people forgotten about it of course) and then registered. Gun was handed in and the cops held it until a buyer was found, then it was added to the registry and registered to the new owner. But it will 100% depend upon the willingness of the cops overseeing it all. I think some places have a "destroy all guns" attitude to this kind of stuff.

You 2nd amendment right is being eroded by the minute, yet I don't see any of you dragging your leaders in to the streets. Heck, you're not even allowed to have Suppressors or concealed carry with out a licence. You're bent over by the government just as much as us... You still have to ask for your "rights" lol

Face it, you will do the same when the time comes.

Oh and don't get me started on Calicuckistan or jewyork
>>
>>31500312
Wait until the next firearm armistice thingo to 'find' it.
Go take it in and register it and thats it.
>>
>>31499791
>Wanting a nugget
>Ever

I bought one and now I'm just trying to sell it.
But hey, if you're ever down in Vic and want a parts-matching Type 53, I'll sell it for $600 with a big bag of brass included.

Even comes with some Chinese guy's name scratched onto the stock.
>>
So I'm only just realising this now,
but when I bought a gun over a year ago I either didn't get the pink registration paper or I lost it.

What do?

Can I just go to a cop shop and get them to give me a new one? Is there a chance it isn't actually registered to me at all?
>>
>>31500240
>>31500260

that's not 100% true if you find a gun you can just walk in to a gun shop with it and sell it to them or get them to register it to you/some one else or pay them to hold on to it while you find a buyer or get your own license.

the cops don't get involved unless the gun needs to be destroyed or the serial number comes back stolen.

I dont know who would use a single shot home made job when there are these fine homemade Mac 10s and Lutties around.

Also Nice France. Budget hire truck. Anzac day.

You dont need a gun to kill dozens of people. Hell it turns out trucks are actually more effective.
>>
>>31505557
Because those cost a few thousand dollars compared to a single shot, which is practically worthless.

Wut mate.
Unless you're buying from that jeweller cunt, they're a few hundred dollars - they have to compete with the black market imports - who would buy a Luty when you can get a FA M16 for $3,500?
They both have the same prison sentence.

I love that theres a few ACT people on here, i struggle to hide my power level in the hopes of bumping into one of you one day

Could someone make a semi auto luty and register it as a pistol?

What's stopping someone from becoming a legitimate firearms manufacturer and constructing semi auto luty's to sell legally?

canada actually disbanded their registry because in all the years it existed it was never used to solve a single criminal case. So they decided the cost of upkeeping it vs the benefit of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING just wasn't worth it.

>>31507633

Can anyone give me advice on hunting? never been before but want to start. What kind of gear do I need? Recommendations for first raifu? Want to

There's a local field and game club and also a range. Should I check those out?
>>
>>31508629
Step 1: Learn all the safety rules
Steps 2-14: Follow all the safety rules
Step 15: Find someone experienced to take you hunting. Try not to ND into them.
>>
>>31508629
On a more serious note, it's going to depend a lot on what you're hunting, where you're hunting, and what time of day you expect to be doing it.

get a 22 and shoot rabbits at dusk and dawn and night if you have NV or spotlights
