>Looking to get first gun
>Leaning towards sig p229 9mm since ive used sigs the most at the gun range and feel most comfortable with them.
>Go to gunbroker to see what they have
>p229 elite, p229 combat, p229 dak
Can /k/ help a noguns out? I have no idea what the fuck any of these mean.
I want a 9mm sig that I can cc and have the option to put woodgrips on

Acquire a short extractor P229, enjoy your life.

Just get a standard P229, no dak, no elite, no combat, no special edition. I prefer my pleb tier P229 to the elite.
How do I keep from pressing on the slide release while I fire my p228? More often than not I cant get the slide to lock back.

I appreciate the fact you want a 229, I love mine, but it's way too big to cc, at least for me. It's considered a "compact" but it is certainly a gun meant to be carried by someone who carries for a living. That's why secret service and VA cops love sigs. If any DA/SA sig, I'd look into the Sig P224 first and foremost. It's smaller and even easier to carry.
Now that I said that, the difference in elite, combat, etc. are mainly the styling. Look at the Sig Sauer website, they may have minor functional differences. DAK models are double action, I think it means it has a lighter trigger pull and/or shorter reset. Look into that, I can't be sure.
If you're okay with double action, look into the Sig P290. If you want a single action, P938. Both are thinner and single stack mini pistols built for civilians to cc comfortably. If you're hellbent on DA/SA (I know I love it) then the 224 is still a very nice gun, and smaller than the 229.

Don't get the double-action only.
On a Sig related note does the meme boat anchor 226 have the short extractor still?
>>31484386
Stop using a thumbs forward grip and do it traditional.
>>31484439
Yes.
Get the 229 dark elite, get the conversion barrel, get the 938... Love life.
I bought a Springfield LW operator for $840 used.
It is like new though, no wear, and no marks, havent shot it yet though. Mechanically sound it seems
did i fuck up? Its my first 1911, bought it over armslist

Sig likes to make 20 different options of guns.
from the top of my head, the P229 elite is the stainless with wood grips and comes with the SRT kit. The combat is phosphate coated like the MK25 and has a chrome barrel.
The DAK is to be avoided, completely different trigger system. If you want DAK done better, try HK's LEM.
A lot of people dislike the fact that Sig makes MIM extractors on their guns save for the MK25 so you can get this to put in yours. It's a tool steel extractor from a highly reputable Sig gunsmith.

And if you want a Sig style gun for conceal carry, look into the P239. It's a single stack P22X that shoots like a fucking dream. Shame about the capacity however.

I like to put my right thumb over the knuckle of my left hand thumb. Sigs are notorious for this and I've seen this countless times at the range.

If it's like new, you did great.
>>31484465
Thanks homie

thanks for the insight.
i know i said i want to cc but the pistol is mainly going to be for home defense. I just wanted to have the option to cc if I have to.
>>31484888
There is only one sig if you want cc. The original P225.

>A sig, I'd look into the Sig P224 first and foremost. It's smaller and even easier to carry.
To my knowledge, the P224 is such a piece of shit, that Sig discontinued it. There's a lot of people that have problems with theirs. It's literally a P229 Sig took a hacksaw to and cut off the grip and slide.
Then they tried to offload the remaining slides making a limited run of "P226 Carry" models. And they did that by making them in everything but 9mm.
239 all the way. Shame Sig doesn't reengineer the 239 or make some inbetween of the 224 and 239.

Just buy the standard model. All the other ones just add cosmetics and your carry gun will get worn in over time anyway. Not the dak. That stands for double action kellerman. A trigger system despised by the vast majority of has-guns that was only developed to suit the requirements of some retarded police bureaucrats.
