The second amendment is to provide the security of a free state
It cannot do that effectively if the people cannot access the same hardware the feds have.
Reasonable accountability of MANPADS and the like is to be expected though, and war crimes are not protected under the second amendment.

That being said i also dream of a day when we go full mad max with war rigs and shit. just throw countermeasures on civilian aircraft and legalize death races and shit.

Yes. Citizens should have the same access to everything the military has. If the military just has muskets, so does the civilian population. The reason it was written was to give civilians the means to take over the government.

but yeah, the letters of marquis and reprisal clause meant that the Framers didn't think anything of private warships, they just wanted the ability to say who people with private warships were allowed to shoot at.
