kekekek, LM stock hodlers on suicide watch
>>
>>31431243

>foreign sales are domestic prices

0/10

Also, why the fuck would LM stock holders be on suicide watch for a big bulk sale, individually well over domestic "msrp" (for lack of a better term)

As a stock holder, im very fucking happy.
>>
>>31431243
uhhhh that's cheaper than some 4.5 gen deals.
>>
>>31431256
>>foreign sales are domestic prices

>only domestic prices matter
>>
>>31431399
Are the Japanese locating all production if their F-35's in Japan?

If not then don't compare apples and oranges.
>>
>>31431403
>>only domestic prices matter

For unit cost, yes. Other countries pay a premium, and they get stuff like extra engines and whatnot per air frame.
>>
>>31431431
>being this retarded

If you want to sell a plane to a foreign country, the foreign price will matter to them.
>>
>>31431410
That deal isn't for just unit cost.........
>>
>>31431445
Okay I never argued that.
and this isn't either>>31431399
>>
>>31431441

And F-35 is still a great deal. The most recent F-16 sold cost 165 million $ per unit.
>>
Aww, yeah. We're taiko drums now.
>>
>>31431441
>If you want to sell a plane to a foreign country, the foreign price will matter to them.

That does not mean the phones base price is what you are selling it to somebody who cant get it.

If a company can't export their goods, then it's a shitty and uncompetitive company (Lockmart actually fooled American allies).
>>
>>31431488
>If a company can't export their goods, then it's a shitty and uncompetitive company

The F-35 is not only exporting, its exporting at a premium.

>(Lockmart actually fooled American allies)

How, exactly? Did it do a neat magic trick for them?
>>
>>31431243
It's amazing the nips can afford them.
>>
>>31431503
>The F-35 is not only exporting, its exporting at a premium.
Exactly. It's a piece of overpriced shit that wouldn't garner any sales if it weren't for propaganda. Should have bought a Flanker.
>>
>>31431399
Name one
>>
>>31431513
When you only buy 30 F-35's after not buying literally anything for 20 years, it really is not.

So multiple nations are stupid dolts?

Excellent argument!

But anon, why get a flanker if you can get the far superior F-15?

Well then, the domestic price of Gripen Cs was 30 million a pice for sweden, so I still think that 85 million sounds like a lot then.

Multiple nations also buy the joke of a Patriot missile system but hey if everyone's doing it then it must be good.

You retards are seriously hilarious sometimes.
>>
>>31431645
Brazil will have a Gripen factory and wasnt india supposed to build some of their Rafaels? (lol)

And both of those deals include weapons and training.

>m...m...muh 20 year old gulf war glitch!
>>
>>31431593
Gripen C's are obsolete fodder.
>>
>>31431681
They are the only aircraft with Meteors.

But admittably they are still inferior to some others, but at 30 million a pice you can get 3x as many Gripen Cs as F-35s.
>>
>>31431671
It is probably the same anon who tried to argue Phalanx didn't work because it wasn't turned on to shoot doen an errant target drone.
>>
>>31431698
>They are the only aircraft with Meteors.

For this exact moment. Everyone will be getting meteors.

Furthermore, the meteors is a Semi Active missile. You are telling my a gripen will even see a F-35 on its radar?
>>
>>31431698
One F-35A has more effect on the battlefield than three Gripen C.
>>
>>31431702

No no no, anon.

He didn't argue the Phalanx didn't work, he argued aegis itself was at fault!
>>
>>31431710
>You are telling my a gripen will even see a F-35 on its radar?

The Norwegians are getting F-35As right now and the SwAFs 211th & 212th divisions train with them twice a week.

So as soon as the Norwegians get them I guess we will find out.
>>
>>31431724
>So as soon as the Norwegians get them I guess we will find out.

Expecting a civil war soon?
>>
>>31431721
How do you know? The Gripens can deliver more munitions amd can be refueled and rearmed in 10 minutes. They will certinly have more sorties per day.

This is however a mostly doctrinal thing as I dont ever see a case where Gripens and F-35s will fight eachother.
>>
>>31431526
Rafale, Eurofighter
>>
>>31431710
Meteors are active seeker.

The mistake/lie made in compairing them to AMRAAM's is that they are compared to AIM-120C and not AIM-120D.
>>
>>31431526
PAK FA
>>
>>31431749
Can they even deliver those munitions against a modern A2/AD?

>>31431754

>>
>>31431790
>To what countries?
you have to be legitimately retarded
>>
>>31431788
Probably yes. Unless the oponent has the extreme top end missiles mixed in.

It can also carry a lot of different standoff weapons.

Dont get me wrong, the F-35 is a better strike fighter, but I still think you get more use from 3x Gripen Cs.

>Max of 4 AMRAAM + 2 Sidewinder
>F-35 can do 12+2

>Limited to 8 dumb 500lbs bombs or 4 LGB/Mavericks
>F-35 can load basically anything in inventory, including 16 5000lbs JDAM/LGB or 24 SDBs

The F-35 is far more "bang for your buck", especially since Gripen E/F is priced closer to the Rafale and EF-2kT3 than the F-35A.
>>
>>31431698
>>31431817
You wouldn't get 3x as many Gripens. You can't just look at unit cost. Are you also going to train 3x as many pilots, 3x as many ground crew, pay for 3x as much fuel and equipment, etc? It's like saying you could operate ten Shermans for the price of an Abrams, it doesn't work that way.
>>
>>31432009
>5000lbs JDAM/LGB or 24 SDBs
Fucking typo, 500lbs.

That'd be damn impressive though, 5klbs JDAMs.
>>
>>31432009
>The F-35 is far more "bang for your buck", especially since Gripen E/F is priced closer to the Rafale and EF-2kT3 than the F-35A.

Gripen E/F $60m
Rafale $75m
F-35 $100m
hmm... checks out, it seems even broken clocks can be right once in a while
>>
>>31431817
—and hey, look at that. The single biggest threat to the buyer in question (Japan) is China, who is shoveling billions every year into top-end long range SAM systems and A-A weapons.

Furthermore, the F35 is produced by a country that has an extremely large strategic military investment in their country and is treaty-bound to remain so. This simplifies the infrastructure, supply lines, and wartime systems integration between the two countries in the event of war.
>>
>>31431629

>>
>>31431243

>>
>>31432054
>Gripen E/F ~$105m
>Rafale $108m
>F-35A $84m
FTFY
>>
>>31432675
-New Gripens are something like $60m, Saab spilled the beans during one of their press briefs and it's still on their YT page go look it. There however is no single figure as planes are sold as a package but that's the ball park we talk about for the plane alone
-The price of a single Rafale is in the French budget, has been there in the open for ages go look it.
-That'll be the projected future cost when the production ramps up by something like 30% (?). Should we use some hat number for Rafale as well as they are trippling their production rate over the next few years thanks to the new exports? Apples to apples F-35 is right now around $100m
>>
>>31433072
OK, so you're getting less than 1/3 the capability at 75% of the price.
>>
>>31431243
That's not unit cost, that includes support systems.
>>
>>31432043
Hell of a massive bomb.
>>
>>31431513
J-2s are literally just as expensive as F-35s.
>>
>>31433571
F-2s you mean.
>>
>>31432675
And out of all three the F35 has the best alpha, multi mission, and overall air to air profile. And just so happens to be stealth.

I can see why so many countries want the damn thing.
>>
>>31431197
The airforce is already demanding a new fighter jet to make the B-21 viable.

>>
>>31433584
Yeah, I'm a bit tired. Point is, why would you buy F-16- equivalents when you can get F-35s instead?
>>
>>31433608
The Penetrating Counter Air is a specialized very long range escort. No fighter currently exists that fills (or needs to fill) such a role.
>>
>>31433608
First of all
>popular mechanics

The new fighter is just a continuation of the F-22 replacement program which has existed since before the F-22 was a thing. That's how these things work.
