been carrying a kershaw blackout for going on 12yrs now (pictured is my 5th one. i keep losing them).
i decided i wanted something a little nicer so i spent 3x on a benchmade 940. it just came today. after handling it for about an hour i can't understand why it cost so much
is there a major difference between a $60 knife and a $180 knife?

Not really. You're pretty much like an apple fag. Spending your hard earn money on a name.

Guns, knives and so many other things are examples of diminishing returns. You're spending several times more, for a few percent "better" quality

the steel.

This plus the axis lock is fun as fuck to flip around and is stronger. For most realistic purposes it doesn't matter though.

Pretty much these.
>tfw I edc a cocobolo sebenza and don't give a fuck what /k/ thinks cause I like my pocket jewelry

I got a couple knives I spent 130 to 200 on, I find myself using my rat 1 a lot more. I won't be out any real money if I break or lose it.

If I'm really expecting to beat on my edc that day I'll swap for a griptillian. It's an emotional roller coaster some days. I've lost and found it 3 times. I know if I lose it and someone finds it, it'll never come back. But I enjoy it. Same way most of /k/ can spend hours finger fucking their guns (I also own and finger fuck my guns), I still enjoy screwing around with it. Eventually I'll pass it to my kids.

Steel is a bit better, QC is better, lock is 7 jillion times better, Benchmade probably has the best customer service of any big knife manufacturer.
Is it worth 120 bucks more? Probably not. Ontarios, American Bucks, Cold Steels, and Kershaws will handle normal cutting duties just as good as Spydercos, Benchmades, ZTs, and custom meme knives will. But you won't get stuff like overbuilt 1-handed locks, Gucci steels, fancy handle materials, and other small semi-relevant features with them.

I know how it goes. A lot of my nicer knives are finger fuck knives to begin with. Than I misplace my rat 1 and go to what ever I have next in line for edc. That knife tends to get all fucked and becomes my main for a bit until I find my rat again.
