Op is searching high and low for quality WASR 10/63s and their sexy bayonette lugs.

What is a good price range on these rifles currently /k?

Wholesalers were pretty much out last I looked. A lot of the sub 1k ak's are drying up. One option is a dealer can order those npap pistols and you could sbr it.
>>
Fuck na.
I hate the pistols
>>
>>31373222
Ill sell you mine for $1500
>>
They're getting pricy, but here is one brand new for 700

http://grabagun.com/century-arms-arms-gp-wasr10-762x39-2-30rd.html
>>
10/63s are discontinued
they only make WASR-10s now
or they changed the name
or something

anyway, the new WASR-10s are gtg except for crappy wood

This, 10/63s are great base level AKs so they got bought up and supply is running low. If you want the new WASR-10, they can still be had regularly for $600 or less, but if you want a 10/63, $700+ seems to be the going rate for normal condition ones.

>going rate is significantly higher for 10/63UFs like mine in pic related :^)
>>
>>31378295
there is no reason to buy a used 10/63 over a new WASR-10
and WASR-10s are going for a good deal more than $600 these days since Cugir is focusing on foreign military contracts and civilian rifles are being exported in much smaller quantities

I've seen those metal mags before
who makes them and are they any good?

I agree, I didn't say there was, I was just explaining the difference in price.
>WASR-10s are going for a good deal more than $600 these days
Where are you located? My LGSs and gun shows still regularly have at least 2-3 available and they've been $599 for a while near me.
>>
>>31378566
my LGS don't stock things like that, and if they did, they'd charge over MSRP because that's how IL gun shops roll

I'm talking online prices, which are going up

https://www.slickguns.com/search/apachesolr_search/wasr

lowest price online for WASR-10s according to slick guns is $670

factor in shipping and transfer fee and you're easily looking at $700-$750
if you can find em local for $600, great, but that's probably the exception rather than the rule
>>
>>31378295
Jesus, I bought mine just a few years ago, brand new for $325.
>before sandy vagina :/
>>
You get get an AMD, they're still sub $600 and not a bad gun.
>>
>>31378454
Those are plastic, IMI defense, got them for about 6 bucks a pop at a swap meet.

Crappy wood? Now I dont have to worry about scratching my finish.

>>31378390
Right now i have 750-800 dollars. I wanted to build a 308 config in AR, but decided to hold off and get an ak. Been looking for years, but nows the time, because like everybody said, theyre getting rare.

>>31376255
Thanks. Ill keep that in mind, however I really dont like not being able to actually see/hold the actual AKM im buying.

The gunshow is next saturday and im 10/10 excited to go and look to see what they have. Last time I went hunting for AKMs, they all looked like they had come back from the congo itself. Nothing special or worth 750$.

Also, the local shops have AKs in for generally around 750 here. Mostly nu-age zavs and such.
I personally dont care for them. I like the crappy wood ones.
>>
>>31378706
Yeah, looks like you're right, they're out of stock everywhere online, web dealers and big box store sites. Maybe I should buy an extra one while they're still cheap here.
>>31378710
I hear you anon. I got my underfolder for $600 and now every time I go to the range I have people offer to buy it for $900+ on average since you can't find the UFs anywhere. Never would've guessed my basic AK would end up being worth anymore than I paid for it.
>>
>>31379396
honestly, I would
they're great rifles at the $600 price point
at the $750 price point, I'd get a DDI, a nice kit build, or save up for an Arsenel

>>31379215
the wood on recent production WASRs (and RAS47s, C39s, and N-PAPs) is some cheap shitty soft blond hardwood
it's either beech or birch
it dents easy, but it works
it does have the advantage of being fairly light

I got a set of Rommy G wood for my WASR and it's noticeably thicker and heavier
plus, the buttplate screws are around twice as long in the surplus as compared to the stuff that came on it
not that you're likely to lose a buttplate, but it goes to show where the priorities are

Are you shitting me?

I personally despise underfolders (just my preference, I like fixed stock) but every time I go to the gun shop, thats all they have. Pistols, and underfolder AKs galore for about 700. Cant get away from the damn things.

Thats specifically why Im avoiding the new ones. i cant stand that ugly ass blonde wood. Looks like a crappy knockoff of an airsoft gun.

The old authentic farm wood fence furniture is a nice dark, blending color that doesnt stick out, and it can be polished if you get off your lazy ass. I just fancy the rugged durability and function. If it shoots for thousands of rounds accurately and it can fire fast, Its goodtogo in my book

Also, I dont like how they did the recievers and bolts compaired to the older ones. (I could honestly care less if the bolt snags the trigger once in a whiletoo, but hopefully some g2s will have that fixed anyways.)
>>
>>31379396
nah, I don't actually airsoft
I just know that there's a difference between the cheap mostly plastic/potmetal crap you get at wallmart and the more expensive stuff people who are serious about the hobby use

but, I did think of a better source for a hinge that isn't too expensive for a project

http://stormwerkz.com/stock-folding-mechanisms/stock-folding-mechanism-standard/

actually made for AKs and designed to be bolted onto a trunion, but no reason you couldn't nig-rig it to your wood instead
>>
>>31379582
so far as I'm aware, they have not changed the way they do bolts or receivers
they're still made in Romania and forged and all that
the only difference in the receivers is that Century got their junky monkies off the dope and onto methadone, so they don't get the shakes so much anymore when enlarging the magwells

the wood is easily replaced and surplus wood isn't too expensive
if you don't mind the wood being softer than surplus wood, then it really wouldn't be hard at all to refinish them with shellac or oil

I just remember back about 6 months ago when I was obsessively - specification searching on them vs the old wasr / wasr 10/63, there was something they changed on the reciever that just turned me off. I also believe that they made the metal thinner in some places. Im never going to touch them.

Also they fail the quickest of any AKM in rough torture tests. They dont do well with sand, gravel kills them instantly, and if dropped, they lock up.

Ive seen old romanians and 10/63s caked to the brim with rocks n twigs n ammo, then get run over by a car, and still get picked up and fire a full mag.
>>
>>31379954
you're wrong
the spec never changed at the Cugir/Romarm end
Century improved some of their QC and such and switched to worse wood

the difference between the 10 and the 10/63 when bother were around was that the 10/63 was made using surplus parts

unless you can actually link to the change in the receiver or where they made metal thinner, I'm calling shenanigans on it
ditto for failing first in torture tests, because IO and RAS47 are definitely made with inferior workmanship and/or materials
>>
>>31380065
I forgot to add that I would link if I find it again, but its really not that important. I hate the look and feel of them anyways, so Im still not going to touch it.
I do remember that one had something strange done with the reciever and the bolt, so you can lock it in place, and I also didnt like the stainless bolt carrier.

And stay far away from IO.
Their quality is trash and quality control
Isnt doing their job.
