Question for /k/
What is the MOST secure storage option for long guns that ISN'T a safe
I live on the 10th floor of an apartment building and don't have the room for a safe, nor the ability to move one in without a lot of hassle
I'm considering a pelican case with two Abus 82 locks for travel, and a single lock with a steel cable run through to secure the firearm to something fixed to the building
Alternatives? Ideas?

Sufficient lube and a loose asshole should be all the long storage you need
Under your bed. Wrapped in an old t-shirt or pillow case if you've got children about for added security.

Landmines, put landmines everywhere in your apartment, rig pipe-bombs to go off if someone tampers with your gun cases, little things only you would know to disarm before moving them or opening the case.

>cut hole in wall
>insert gun
>put drywall over hole and plaster that shit
>paint
Done

Top shelf of closet, neatly tucked behind items not as valuable
If you barely use 'em, the best option is to fill a chest with straw, stuff it full of guns and ammo, and bury it somewhere far from habitation. Memorize the coordinates and eat any notes you have made.

sleep with it
OP here, disregard my post as I am a faggot and I like dicks in my butthole

I’d suggest screwing a heavy duty self-tapping eye bolt into a wall stud within a closet, then running a cable lock thru the eye bolt and thru the trigger guards of the firearms, then locking it with a pad lock. If you have several guns to lock up, use two eye bolts in each corner of the closet and a longer cable lock, then line up the guns across the back of the closet.
Use a drill bit that’s less than half the diameter of the eye bolt shank to drill a pilot hole for the eye bolt, then use a large socket to screw the eye bolt into the wall stud and when you move out, remove the eye bolt and just dab a bit of spackling paste to cover up the small hole. Odd are, the landlord won’t even notice.
Homey Despot and such will cut-to-length plastic coated steel cable and crimp the loops for you and it only costs a few bucks.

Hiding it is your best bet
>>31367731
Fill the shelf with depends and benefiber and Jamal won't touch it.
I'd say books but they'll open them looking for hidden shit.

Hide it like this faggot suggested. There is no greater security like not knowing it is there. Hollow out the box spring of your mattress and put a locked pelican box in there. If you really want to get into have a hinge for ease of use.

Feel sorry your mom had to raise you alone.

A stack-on 8 gun locking metal security cabinet from walmart or academy. They're <$100.
if you can't get that up to your apartment and find room for it then you have issues.
Locked and cabled Pelican case is perfectly adequite. You can also get ammo cans with locking hardware. Though they usually only accommodate smaller padlocks.
Hey OP, Im in a similar situation
Heres what I did
>Get length of braided steel cable
>run through each firearm in sequence (16 rifles)
>throw contraption under bed
>wrap around bed frame and around desk
>Buy set of harborfreight boltcutters
>take off jaws
>grind jaws dull on a wheel grinder
>reassemble bolt cutters and put them under bed
Im going to watch gigganigga on security camera try to cut braided security cable with dull bolt cutters before he attempts to carry out 16 rifles, a bed frame and a desk through an interior door and down 3 flights of stairs

if i were worried about someone stealing my gun, i wouldn't want to advertise that i have things worth stealing by banging a cheap safe up ten floors

Your 10 floor apartment building doest have an elevator?
>>31368630
Elevator or stairs, either will have your safe seen by anyone who needs to go up a floor.
>>31368729
Wrap it in a blanket and lash it to a handcart. If anyone asks, its a decorative faux marble pillar
>>31368126
what the actual fuck is this, people sleep on top of that bullshit?
>>31368800
There is this new thing called a mattress.
You can also shit in the toilet
>>31368729
I get it, you don't want a safe. But don't tell me you couldn't disguise what your bringing up very easily.
Obscure a few important details on the box with spray paint, and or ripping the top layer of cardboard off, then wrap the box in a few layers of saran wrap.

This makes me wonder what box springs are really for...
>>31368879
Im not implying at all. Its just that the idea of SOMEONES GOING TO KNOW, it bullshit with even a casual attempt at concealing what your bringing up.
>>31368927
Depends on the mattress.
The foam ones, you dont use a box springs, if its a traditional coil spriing mattress, yeah, you want a box spring under it.
>>31368729
Put it in cardboard and stencil "big bertha dildo" all over the box. Nobody will ask you a thing.
I bought this bed and put a $180 sheetmetal type gunsafe in it. does the job. Has lots of storage, looks nice. everyones surprised when i open it up.
>>31369003
Those stylels of bed cannot hold up to aggressive fucking. If you are anywhere as aggressive as I am in bed, you will be replacing slats every few weeks.
>>31369025
Uhh yes it does, dont be autistic.
>>31368113
Hey i just watched that episode!
>>31369051
No, it doesnt, ive ruined like four different girlls beds that were like that. Maybe it works for you. But maybe your not as aggressive

I've been debating on getting one of these. They mail them to your door and you just put it together yourself

>Thinking everyone knows how to use drywall
You can tell who was a peasant child and who's parents hired people to build and fix their house as they did actual work.
>>31367623
Just get insurance and be done with it. Renters insurance usually covers firearms (under sporting goods). NRA has free coverage up to 2500 for members, you have to activate it on your own though.
If it's a sentimental piece, find a vault or whatever storage facility that does guns,
Thieves, if they want your shit, will break into anything. A plastic case will be split on in a few seconds, regardless of how well it's secured.
Don't live in Niggerville.
