>ITT: operational fuck-ups

Operation Ivory Coast is fucking hilarious.

This is neither a particular fuck up nor is it "fucking hilarious".

Are you autistic? Or trying to bash the US while simultaneously being an idiot?

I'm not even against bashing the US, but you'd think you would choose an actual spectacular failure, like for example the one time a flight of B-17s dropped their load over a friendly city.

Of course this too isn't a good example because by stroke of luck literally all of the bombs fell on a hidden German encampment. I swear I'm not making this up.

please post the story then, that's the idea of the thread

Not sure how this is hilarious. Only thing that is a fuck up is bad intel, but the plan worked out like they wanted it to anyways.

You want hilarious, all you have to do is look at Egypt's 777.

It's not really a fuck up. A fuck up would've been finding out the "prisoner camp" was really a sewage facility or something.

Or the Russians killing dozens of people by suffocating them accidentally.
>>
>>31363095
it was an intelligence fuck up you stupid mongoloid
>>
>>31363053

Not really. The intel wasn't really even bad, just outdated by the time they initiated the operation. Furthermore, this sort of shit happens all the time, even outside of the US.
There are a plethora of other operations/wars that are infinitely more funny and interesting. OP is just a kid who gets entertained easily.
I'm gonna come up with a list of operations/wars that way better than the one you chose:

>Emu War
>Kettle war
>Operation cottage, where Allies invaded an empty Island with 35,000 troops and Killed 300 of their own soldiers in a firefight that never needed to occur
>German submarine U-1206, where a crew member flushed a toilet and effectively sank the craft

I agree with
>>31362074
this anon. I have nothing against roasting burgerfats, but the example you chose is absolute shit.

>TL;DR OP IS A FAG

>land in the heart of a hostile enemy country
>everything is going according to plan
>walk up to Objective
>it isn't fucking there
>kill some guards anyway
>take no casualties
>hilarious failure

Try harder, but. It isn't that funny.

There is no evidence that ever happened.

It's likely made up for propaganda purposes, just like the story of Catherine the Great dying during an attempt to fuck a horse.

Dude, we're talking about people. Ok, a river might be "It was there 2 years ago, good nuff intel" but "This man was there 2 days ago" is nowhere near sufficient. It is a huge intel fuck up.

The Kholm Pocket was the name given for the encirclement of German troops by the Red Army around Kholm south of Leningrad, during World War II on the Eastern Front, from 23 January 1942 until 5 May 1942. A much larger pocket was simultaneously surrounded in Demyansk, about 100 km (62 mi) to the northeast. These were the results of German retreat following their defeat during the Battle of Moscow.

The air supply of Kholm and Demyansk, while successful, lead to an overconfidence in the German high command in regards to the Luftwaffe's ability to air supply encircled forces which would lead to disastrous consequences at the Battle of Stalingrad in late 1942 and early 1943.

At the small Kholm pocket, 5,500 German soldiers held it for 105 days. The pocket was supplied by air, but was too small for planes to land; therefore, supplies had to be dropped in and recovered by the German defenders. Among the airdropped supplies were 35 of the first 50 prototype MKb 42(H) rifles.
