yeah, go to /biz/ and ask them what you should do with the equivalent cash, then make a decision
>>
>>31354685
The walnut full lengths ones are way cooler
>>
>>31354685
Short gas action is less reliable
It's made by SA

Fix one of those problems at least
>>
>>31354685

Defintely get that. How much, by the way?
>>
>>31354713
Less reliable than what? Long stroke gas piston?
>>
>>31354685
get the scout if you know whats good for you
>>

Standard length op rod
>>
>>31354702
i have a gun fund that's pushing about $4k right now

i also have savings, investments and cash in my safe.

i also don't have any kids and a car that's paid off.

i'm ok
>>
>>31354685
>>31354828

Eh I was considering buying the scout squad model because I too have excess funds, but I decided to build an AR-15A2. After all of my research I came to that conclusion, I suggest you do the same.
>>
>>31354870
223/556 is a meme op do it
>>
>>31354870
i owned an xm-15 in the past and i recently purchased a 6920. AR's are boring
>>
>>31354685
get the scout or standard

that being said as someone who always wanted an m1a, eventually bought one and still own it. the excitement wears off once you try to find a practical use for the thing. there are other guns that fill just about every role better.

however that still doesnt stop be from wearing an old protech helmet and fondling it while watching black hawk down
>>
>>31354828
With a $4000 budget I would honestly get the FN SCAR instead.
>>
>>31354962
>$4k
>not getting LMT
>not getting MR762
>not getting GAP-10
>not getting OBR

shieeeet
>>
>>31354962
meh. after i have a good .308 and .30-'06 i'm gonna start getting into "high end" shotguns.

i like shotguns a lot more than i do rifles.

Mine has only had one jam and it was a case bulge. Stomped the op rod, nothing since. I say get one. They're fun. Mine is a SA btw. Great quality
Anyone who says otherwise doesn't own one or got a lemon. Don't listen to the memes

Op besides the Tactical side of it you're way better off going with the full length or the Scout Squad. I really like the Scout Squad because you don't give up too much distance ( effective range).

Basically if you just want to cuz it looks cool get it. But if you're into accuracy / functionality go with the full length, otherwise go with the Scout Squad Best of Both Worlds.

Pick related it's my Scout.
>>
=>>31355159

This guy knows what's up. Scout length is basically having an AR without evil features (what cuck needs a pistol grip, really, anyway?)
>>
>>31355009
Honestly anon, I would buy higher end first, and I've been there.

For a few years recently I had higher income and lower expenses (I'm still doing well, but sales have gone down and I've incurred higher bills).

Without getting too detailed: I would buy three (relatively) cheap guns over one nice, expensive gun. It took me a while, but I learned I preferred to have a few guns I really enjoyed over a lot of guns I thought were alright.

Not to knock the M1A, it's actually on my list. I'm just saying, weigh the options: the price tag is the most attractive feature before you buy and the least attractive one afterward. If you want something more expensive and can reasonably afford it, then get that instead, you'll be happier you did. Trust me, you'd rather spend more on a gun you'd love than spend less on a gun you'd feel meh about.
>>
>>31355159
Your opinion is very valid but goddamn are you a manlet.

>>
>>31355892
If you're just looking for a deer gun, then get a $600-$800 bolt action in .308 or .30/06 and be done with it

If you want a battle rifle, then you really can't go wrong with a M1A

Space is tighter than money right now, and right now my only gun that carries much energy out past a hundred yards is a nugget with canted sights. I've got the money and love Garand actions. I just wanted to make sure it was accurate enough for my intended use case.
>>
>>31356003
Ideally I wanted one gun that could do both roles, so it sounds like the M1A is good.

The only two manufacturers of M1As I can find on the internet are SA and a place called Fulton Armory.

Has anyone bought anything from them before? Are they any good?

I ask because I know some people IRL who say SA quality a shit, and it would be nice if I could safely go somewhere else

Don't listen to these purest fuccbois op. Its a fine gun. Its reliable and it eats pretty much every type of 308. Its lighter weight and handier in the woods than its bigger brothers. If you like walnut you can find vintage m14 walnut stocks for decent prices. I take mine hog hunting a couple times a year and its a blast to shoot.

Go for it OP. I've owned a full sized M1A for 8 years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. No malfunctions to speak of in all that time and great fun to shoot. Scout vs full size is all up to you, I own a standard rifle but my brother has the SOCOM scout. Both are good rifles in my opinion.
