>>
>>31337513
>>31337688
2 points. I get that Kruger is cool for lots of reasons. He's also a psychopathic raping murderer, not exactly the kind of hero /k/ usually roots for, and certainly not the kind of person you want to meet after the Happening.

As for 'muh obamacare', sure the people on earth want to 'mooch' off the space station people. Unfortunately if Matt Damon's working conditions are anything to go by, not to mention his morning commute, they basically treat the people on earth like shit and go out of their way to exploit and oppress them. Even the supposedly weakling president that everyone wants to overthrow just wants to deport people instead of killing them, and not use psychopaths are covert agents, which is not really soft at all.

His interactions with Matt Damon's girlfriend in the movie isn't exactly a warped familial one. It's more of a psycho home invader.

The only reason he didn't throw her down is muh hollywood pg rating, and he was too busy trying to overthrow a government... knowing he'd have plenty of time to celebrate later.

Matt damon lives on earth as a reformed criminal who used to steal cars. Has a childhood friend he wants to wed who works at a shitty hospital
Earth is really shitty and basically just a giant factory for the rich people who live on Elysium, a space station paradise in earths orbit.
Matt damon is involved in a work related accident that gives him a nice big dose of radiation. he's expected to live about a week.
He knows they can cure him on Elysium but the rich people keep the future meds for themselves.
Matt damon begs his old Crime ganglord guy to help. Guy agrees but matt is too poor to pay him. Convinces matt to kidnap some rich factory owner in exchange for a ride to elysium.
Kidnapping ensues, matt gets the code or whatever he needs to get to elysium. Takes his "totally not girlfirend" nurse and her sick kid and a bunch of other fugees. They get to elysium and are hunted like dogs.
This whole time a guy called Kruger is hunting matt as well, ordered to by a politician on elysisum.

Forget exactly how all these story arcs end but ending is fucking weak because rich snobs on elysisum prove they can just help everyone anyway but haven't been because muh laisez faire capitalism.

The actions scenes are pretty cool and so is the tech but a pretty muh outing otherwise. District 9 was a million times better. Was not a steaming pile of poop like Chappie at least.

That part was hilarious to me. All they had to do was send down their fleet of spare beds they had lying around and charge people like $25000 a pop to use them. It'd be cheaper AND more effective than their current healthcare on earth, so the "villains" would solve their immigration crisis and create billions of dollars per second, but they're too rich and evil to want infinite money for no work.

Of course, you should have seen that happening after the work "accident" scene.

That's pretty funny. I always assumed arabs were the cause of most crime in europe.
>>
>>31339848
crime is usually not terrorism

slavs in general are, well, essentially the niggers of europe.

your local drug dealer? yeah either his name is vlad, or he's a member or a biker gang (or maaaaybe working for one of those groups).
your car got stole'd? eastern european organized gang, nothing we really can do, sir.
need someone offed? ask benny, his brother is with the hells angels, they'll know someone.

something exploded? probably arabs. maybe extreme right-wingers wanting to explode arabs, or lefties wanting to explode right-wingers or capitalists or whatever, I hate politics.

of course thats not to say arabs don't into crime - heck most youth gangs you see are turks (I can safely say that from my prejudiced white non-poor male POV) and just remember jan 1st this year in cologne - but they are not (yet?) the majority.
>>
>>31338103
That's the exact issue with the movie. The bad guys are bad because reasons. They have no reason to mistreat earthlings so bad save the narrative demanding it.
And at the same time, why is the only guy they have to hunt down our hero a raging sociopath? Surely they have some more professional operators around. Why is the first and last person they go to with this massive problem someone kicked out of Elysium for being a crazy uncontrollable murderer?
>>
>>31339986
Because as the audience, they think you'd be too retarded to understand who the bad guy was if he didn't stop to go "GRRR! I'M BAD!" every few minutes.

Yeah, those poor rich people, they just wanted to mind their own business on their space station that they built with their own hands!

The people on earth had everything they needed, from robot police to keep them 'safe' to wonderful jobs in disease free environments (mind the occasional radiation poisoning though).

I bet you'd be that fucking shcmuck supervisor that Matt Damon had, sucking the bosses dick even while he treats you like you have the plague.
>>
>>31340211

>>
>>31339986
>they had no reason to be evil and oppressive
Does anyone ever need a fucking REASON!?

Victorian england, nazi germany, stalinist Russia. Aside from "crazy" mixed with "greed", there's generally no sensible reason to be a statist oppressive fuck.
>>
>>31340253
All of those people had reasons. You don't follow. There is no motivation for the Elysians to mistreat earthlings so much.
They live in what appears to be a post scarcity society with advanced technology. They could use this advanced technology to make boat loads of cash but don't because....?
They could just treat earthlings like human beings but don't because...?
Like are they Nazis? Stalinists? Chinese?
No they're American capitalists that are just evil and don't act like capitalists.

If they really didn't care about earthlings they'd just have their super advanced robutts build shit. And instead of hoarding their technology they'd sell it at exhorbant prices.

Their only motivation for being cockbags is perceived racism which makes no sense. This is clearly space America. Even in the 1820s slaves got medical care.

Shit pays yo.
If the situation in Poland is similar to here in Slovenia then every mechanic does a little something on the side too. Maybe just some innocent stuff like knowing how to obtain cheaper parts or to straight up theft and smuggling of any kind of car parts.
If you know how to do it then stealing car tires is easy, quick, silent and doesn't really require any advanced/suspicious tools or machinery. They are also easier to sell and smuggle. Even stock tires for the fancier SUVs and urban jeeps (like the Cayenne) easily get you at least 500€, if you get your hands on a fancy sports car like >>31339764 and >>31339705 did, the selling price is in the thousands.

Here's a good piece of information for reference.
When I was in, we used shitty banged up AKMs twice our age.
There are remote bases that still have stockpiles of nuggets and Nagant revolvers, along with unmodernized PM's.
There are some places where recruits don't get to shoot as part of their training. Or a rifle at all other than to hold on parades/formations.
Unless stationed near a big city, if you get armored vehicles, chances are 3 out of 5 will be out of commission, with another one constantly needing repairs.

To expand further on this knowledge
Vodkaland has one of the worst infrastructures in the developed world. Some villages are literally inaccessible other than by heli.
Theft and corruption in the gubmint is immeasurable. We're talking 14 cars, 4 out of town villas, 'get away with plowing through a bus stop full of people killing several' worth of stealing.
Instead of updating speed signs to the new regulations and all the expenses that would come with it, get this:
THEY CHANGED THE LAW TO ACTUALLY ALLOW SURPASSING THE LIMIT BY NO MORE THAN 20KM/H
A doctor in a state clinic makes as much as a loader or a tram driver/conductor.
Every aspiring engineer/scientist dreams of working abroad for ten times local salary, unless they have terminal patriotism of the brain.

So you tell me. Why DOESN'T the government finance exploring modular weapon attachments?
