The scale and intensity of WW2 on the Eastern Front does not even compare to a small sliver of the largest engagements in the Afghan war.

Shit, the partisan warfare during WW2 was more intense than Afghanistan.

Afghanistan was a low-intensity, low budget policing operation where they tried and failed to mould the society into something modern.
