MOS sucks. Get a proper setup or not at all. Leave this half ass shit to niggers.
>too high
>no cowitness with no excuse like 6 second mount
>looks like trash because it is trash
>>
>>31322328
Looks cool yea. BUT won't give you any advantage over your irons when shit actually goes down. It's just one more than that can fail or have dead batteries.

If it's just a range toy then do it. Hell I would if I could afford it.
>>
>>31322960
>irons are just as good as red dots - probably better even
>red dots are just range toys that break - there are no reliable ones
Wat?
>>
>>31323249
In a self defense I doubt your gona be shooting more than 30 ft away. If you can't hit something with standard irons at that distance you need to learn to shoot.

Obvi your gona be able to aquite your target like half a second faster but that's nothing that some drills couldn't solve.

And I know there are some quality ones but I've heard of one's getting beat to shit that are slide mounted. Plus you have to have it on always if you Wana use it I'm self defense. Idk how long the battery last in those. But that's not something I would want to worry about in a life/death situation.

I.e. range toy.

So to sum up: ignorance and stawmen.
Got it. Thanks, anon. I really appreciate your valuable input.
Hey, next time someone tells you to KYS; you just keep on truckin'.
>>
On a static range or in a situation where you can keep it clean they're fun toys.

If you intend to be outside much then you have to understand that the RMRs are another thing you have to take care of. They WILL go to shit in the rain. They WILL go to shit if you fall into the dirt. You need to wipe the screen and dig out the area the emitter sits in. A thing to note is rain drops on the screen effect your irons as much as the dot.

They just had the vortex ones on sale for like $200... I really like the mini dot on my buckmark, just can't really justify the huge price jump to get slide milled and a sight that won't break...

It's not too high you tard it's just as deep as your is. Suppressor sights work fine with it. Also, your slide cut probably isn't refinished. Enjoy your rust.

Love these stupid arguments.

I can do it too!

Maybe when I do kms I'll try this newfangled pistol red dot. A $300 solution to a problem that didnt exist.

I was just Giving op what advice I know. But I guess I'm unfit to live in a world of youngguns

Just cuz I've never owned one doesn't mean I know nothing about them fag. I've shot with them plenty but for me there just a neat novelty.

I know there exspensive.
I know they run on batteries thay don't last forever.
I know that you have to get a holster that has room for the sight.
I know your mom doesn't love you
And I know slide mounted sights will break at some point.

Get it if you want it. I got the dual illumination RMR. Tritium and fiber optic so it works day and night without batteries same as dual illumination ACOG..

This is a pic from first time shooting it last june. I have about 15 pistols and decided to try optics recently. I ordered it from amazon on a back order sale and had to wait like 6 mo to get it but I only payed 350 +tax.

Anyways its nice. not sure if I would carry it but probably. Hey if you can afford the toys. F**K it.
>>
FNX-45T and M&P9 CORE here

I'm going to recommend you go shoot one and try it out to see if it works for you. It's not for everyone but I think for most it's an improvement over traditional sighting systems.

Two of the biggest advantages for me:

1) Improved accuracy at any distance.

2) Where the dot is where the bullet goes. Done. No bullshitting around with sight alignment. I was in an IDPA match, was shooting around a corner. I was barely lined up with the target but still made my hits because I could see my dot.

Biggest con is that it takes time to learn because we're all so used to iron sights.

All the other excuses about failure points, or shitty fad, etc. kind of fall flat. There's a reason why optics on handguns is dominant in competitive shooting. It plain works in getting effective hits on targets as fast as possible. Anyone who follows should know that competitive shooting has paved the way for many improvements in shooting technique.

The current two handed pistol grip was created through IPSC

The vice grip on MSR that are popular has similar origins.

Practical competitive circuits have been championing red dots on ARs forever before moving on to variable power scopes that everyone is hot for now too.

The demand for better triggers was spawned from competitions. Bill Geissele was chasing a better trigger design while doing High Power matches.
>>
>>31324547
ditto, if you screw up and throw a shot with optical dot sight, its your trigger control etc. Cant blame sight alignment anymore if the dot is on the target.
>>
>>31323913

where!?!?!
>>
>>31322263
I CC a 19 with a RMR and XC1 no problem. Just make sure you get the adjustable LED and not that bullshit dual illumination trash.

>>31323832
1. That's not Billy Waugh
2. MACVSOG were always innovators and using new and untested shit
3. There are pictures of them running Armson OEGs/Normark Singlepoints (in addition to a lot of other shit) on their weapons.

I've probably put more rounds into warm bodies than you've fired in your whole damn life and I have an RMR on my gun? I'm drunk and willing to argue on the internet all morning if oyu wanna do this.
>>
>>31322263
I have the rmr I put it in a smith and Wesson 8 shot .357. Aiming with it was weird as fuck. Ended up putting the rmr on my vepr-12. But yeah I'd draw the line at those ghost ring sites. Mini optics are pointless on handguns
>>
>>31322263
Idk if I'd use it for CC but shooting a pistol with a red dot is fucking awesome. I've never had one with a dedicated mount but I've used both a Burris FastFire and a trijicon RMR on my glocks with an adapter and it was the shit. Takes all the sight picture variables out of making good shots.
>>
I'm faster with irons up close, more accurate at distance with a dot. In the end I went back to irons.
>>
>>31324722
It is on Amazon... The mrgunsngear guy posted it on Facebook... He costs me a lot of money... I think it is the 6moa viper one...
>>

Literally two holsters that fit red dot gun without being specially made to do so in the picture you replied to.
Battery lasts 1.5-2 years. Even the sun will burn out. Change batteries every birthday, never worry again.

Just like a laser they do a great job at identifying your problems while shooting I recommend them for anyone and everyone
>>
>>31322263

Its stupid. For cc, you'll be shooting targets so close to you that you dont even need iron sights. Why do you think some pocket .380s don't even have sights?

Plus they look dumb desu

I was in this situation and I just finished building an mrds glock 17. For daily cc I prefer my gen 2 (also built this one).

However the mrds is just as easy to cc and shoot although I mainly only carry my mrds if I know I'm going somewhere dark like a movie theatre etc. I also keep my mrds glock out as a nightstand gun.

I would say it's not a benefit for CCW. Practice, low weight, small size and robustness are reasons why not to use it for CCW. Not that you could break an RMR if you tried.

I use one for home defense where none of those things matter, and I use one in competition and for fun at the range.

Number one comment from new people trying one of these: "It's like cheating!"

He's right, it's the same height. Even though you two have different optics and different height iron sights, the top of the projector housing is the same height above the slide. Only difference is that one of you can use irons through the dot and the other can't.
