So /k/, I was wondering what the various opinions about the guns in halo. I saw a little discussion about this somewhere else and I found it quite intresting.
>>31220759
looks like a RFB with an Eotech with some plastic moldsid chassis could make a usable version of this
>>31220759
>In the space-age instead of having laser conventional weapons we just use bigger bullets
I like it.
>>31220874
>The standard issue rifle fires 7.62x51mm FMJ-AP in full auto
Marines must have arthritis in their shoulders by 30.
>>31220943
The weapon has negligible recoil b/c 26th century recoil mitigation tech
>>31220943
It's 2552, I'm sure they've developed a way to mitigate the recoil of 7.62 NATO in a small arm.
>>31220962
>>31220976
Why are we still using 7.62 NATO? We don't use snaphaunces and matchlocks today.
>>31221002
The SMG uses caseless ammo. I think Halo 5 may have changed that though.
>>31221002
That's like asking why the Warthog still has wheels. It's one of those technologies that honestly can't much be improved. Maybe the materials involved aren't quite the same, and maybe they squeeze a little more power out of the round, but overall, a bullet is an incredibly effective way of moving a huge amount of energy from one place to another in a very short time.
>>31220759
They're top aesthetic at least.
>>31221002
Cartridge design basically peaked during the 20th Century
7.62 NATO, 5.56 NATO, 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, and .50 BMG will all outlive us
Possibly even 9mm too, but I suspect someone might design a better pistol cartridge in the future
>>31223205
Dat silencer. What are they suppressing .50cal?
>>31223260
The Halo SMGs fire caseless ammunition.

>>31223260
>.50 cal
>smg
>low recoil
>silenced
Nobody stands a chance
What about this wouldn't work?
one of the things that always confused me was the DMR. the game lists the DMR as being chambered in 7.62 x 51mm. Same round as the regular AR, except in game it does more damage. I understand its a game and all, but still i wished they could have made up some other round to explain the difference in power or something.
>>31223351
Longer case length I guess. The DMR mags are much longer than AR mags and the ammo isn't compatible, so I guess its the same bullet put in a magnum length case or something. As you say, they are both listed as firing the exact same round, so IDK.
we postan vidya guns now?
>>31223328
There is literally no reason for the tubes to rotate.
>>31223974
during the next expansion they will just invert the color patterns on that you mark my words
>>31223256
Yeah, it's called 10mm Auto.
>>31223986
Sure there is, to bring the live tube in line with the users head and the sight if there were one mounted, like reducing the sideways HoB.
>>31223974
Shit game famalam try again
Make sure you bring a Dahl with you the next time you go on assignment. It just might bring you back.
>>31220759
I think they all look fantastic, especially the ODST guns.
>>31223256
>7.62x39
>>31224431
Shame this concept weapon never made it into the game. I had fun with Borderlands 2, but I also kinda hated it. All the weapons were too gimmicky, they were just too annoying to use, most of them had really cool looking and interesting designs conceptually but in actual gameplay they'd mix different manufacturer's parts, that had completely different aesthetics, and make the guns look fucking awful or downright retarded. Like you'd get shitty junk Bandit parts on a futuristic sleek, curvy Maliwan gun, or on the sharp angular Hyperion weapons, or on the modern Dahl, every fucking time too, they all looked like junk. And the loot system was so fucking cunty. I virtually never get any good weapons. Borderlands 1 had the better weapon design really.
>>31220767
>>31224002
That's exactly what they're doing anon, it's even a pre-order exclusive.
>>31223974
May as well. Have a VHS loaded anti-tank gun.
>>31220874
This baby fires 9.5x40mm.
>>31226030
God damnit AAC, first you make .300 blackout when there's already 7.62x39; now, centuries in the future, you make 9.5x40 when we already have 9x39.
>>31224025
It has a friggen targeting system, why even bother when it links to a standard issue marines helmet and neural interface.
Only possibility is the firing mechanism is actually only on one side instead of being on both.
>>31226321
It used to be dumbfire in CE.
>>31226286
Actually, it uses experimental propellant to achieve great performance. The 9.5x40mm M634 X-HV-SAP round has a higher muzzle velocity than 7.62 NATO, and likely uses a heavier bullet.
>bullpups in the future
lel
>>31228119
If it works
>>31226480
Such a fat round thou.
Lots of frontal cross section that increases drag.
>>31225038
yes, it's not going anywhere
>>31228331
>bullpup
>ever working
>>31225989
Fuck them so hard...
>>31228562
>500 years in the future
>>31223986
But the tubes are the magazines in a sense. I recently saw a shotgun that has rotating tube magazines.
>>31223351
I kinda assume that it uses ammunition loaded to absurd pressures with heavy bullets, and the ammo is not interchanged to avoid blowing the standard rifles the fuck up
>>31220759
KILL YOURSELF
>>31226480
Yet does less damage?
>>31229910
Edgy
>be R&D guy at misriah armory
>general fuckface from unsc keeps wanting a weapon to surpass the the old ass M4 platform
>look back at old guns for inspiration
>see the f2000
>see the FAL
>lol guys lets combine this shit
>let's make a bullpup with a 24 inch barrel
>let's make it as long As long as the old M16
>mfw General fuckface loves it and decides to equip swinging dick with it
Seriously. The only halo AR that I liked was the short MA37 from Reach I think it was. It was compact and still real fucking nato.
