What optic is that?
Also, 15.4 in or 11 in? Would the velocity and accuracy suffer from going down to 11in? I kinda want pic related, but with that bright wood furniture.

I don't remember the exact model but it's a Primary Arms red dot. They're probably having a sale right now, you should check them out. It would be cool in 11". If you had it cut down you could get it threaded for normal threads too.

The fixed stock looks the best and is incredibly comfy, but the sidefolder is the most handy folding stock I've ever handled

Folding stock looks better on 15.4" and shorter and fixed stock looks better on 16" and longer

It's an extremely handy rifle, and it's be fine out to 300m or so, which is pretty much where we began engaging with our C7s. I may be wrong, but I hear that 7.62x39 doesn't suffer as much out of shorter barrels anyway.

I want to get the optics mount that CSA makes so I can spend some more money. Anyone have favorite optics for this? I'm starting to get tired of using the slav iron sights for anything past 50 yards at my range.

Redpill me on why I should by a VZ over a WASR or any other off the shelf generic AK

Love the asthetic of the folder. I've seen some real nice customs re: op's pic. Still stuck on the wire side folder AKM's or a triangle folder SLR. Hard choice

You should get whichever one you want. They are almost entirely different internally. The only thing they share are similar ergonomics and the 7.62x39 cartridge. Major internal mechanics differences is the VZ is short stroke piston and striker fired while the AK is long stroke piston and hammer fired.

Minor stuff is like the VZ has an empty mag catch and the AK you can do the "AK reload" and is ambidextrious for reloads unlike the VZ where you need to get an ambi release. The VZ is actually a great gun for left handed shooters.

Basically impossible, especially if you're Canadian.

The problem is that CSA began focusing more effort into make the new scorpion EVO's and Bren while demand for the VZ-58 basically stayed the same, high demand and low supply means you're basically stuck with $1300 VZ-58's forever now unless you buy century.
