Looks like the Philippines are buying two frigates from Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Should be a good ASW platform, also a nice base for the Wildcats they brought from the UK.

http://www.janes.com/article/63401/hyundai-wins-usd337-million-frigate-contract-from-philippine-navy
>>
Bit surprised at the lack of VLS.
>>
>>31191591
They got two ships for 337 million. Nigga, thats a great price. THey should be happy they got more than rowboats.

It should have a box of four for the launchers, so a total of 8.

For defense, it should have the 21 box launcher of RAM,

All and all, for around 300 mill for 2, not to bad.
>>
>>31191591

That's part of the Tech Package. The Base and SX models don't include it, but it's an available option.
>>
>>31191613
>>31191619

Shit, I thought that's what the price was for each one. That's a crazy good deal.

Are they relying on the Wildcats for ASW? I there's nothing about a hull mounted or towed sonar.

For reference, this is what the second batch of six Incheon class frigates will look like. Different sensor suite, and the addition of the a 16 cell K-VLS in front of the bridge.

>What went wrong?

South Korea literally offered to sell them an entire fleet of second-hand Corvettes to go with it at a later date. Most of Philippines fleet right now is 2nd hand US patrol boats.
>>
>>31199296
Nah, the Filipinos visited GRSE and realised the terms they offered were bullshit, hence why they were disqualified and negotiations and the eventual contract with HHI resumed.
>>
>>31199346
No, they visited GRSE to check out the infrastructure and deemed it satisfactory.

Later they brought up a Hyundai-favored financial guarantee clause, which GRSE couldn't achieve with current cash-flow and reserves. Obviously a big company like Hyundai could.

The clause was only there to disqualify the lowest bidder (GRSE) amicably. The Koreans offered something a lot better under the table, so they went for it.

>>31199419
I stand corrected.
>>
>>31199457
