Have you compared it to what the army fielded before it?

Also one of the major reasons why this won out in the trials is that it could be produced to use the 30-06 cartridge that they already used compared to the .270ish calibers the other submissions used.
>>
its fun.
>>

When I'm fucking my wife I try to avoid cumming too fast. I think about hockey fights and whale song. If I thought about the Garand, I'd blow my load in half a second.

In the game medal of honor rising sun this gun absolutely kicked tittts. So it gives me video game nostalgia. Also it's strong enough to take down an elephant, and could be used to trick enemies with its "pinging" cartridge noise. It was a great rifle for it's time bruh. Ay, but dat m1a1 carbine tho.. Hnnngggg
>>
>>31176698
>That's why they are used in national matches
I think that's because of rules on what rifles are allowed at the matches.

>en bloc clips
they work and are cheap as shit
Regular magazines are more convenient.

>>31176703
The 03 Springfield was pretty much a Mauser 98 knockoff.
>>
>>31176733
.....its true though
>>
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG Ping! Fuck you, op!
>>
>>31176668
It has a lot of historical value to Americans due to being the service rifle of their troops during WWII.
>>
I want one, but the local shops are selling them for $4000
Considering buying a "knockoff" with a fixed external box mag for far cheeper, but the wood feels cheap and flimsy as hell.
>>
>thumb buster

OH NOES, I LACK THE MENTAL CAPACITY TO MAKE SURE THE BOLT IS FULLY LOCKED BACK AND NOT JUST HUNG UP ON THE MAGAZINE FOLLOWER!
>>
I bought got some becuase AMERICA

It's ok, I don't shoot the two I own often. I instead like the M1 carbine much more. People say USGI M1 carbines have terrible reliability, and the one I owned briefly had some weird ass malfunctions, but the Japanese made Howa I currently own functions perfectly.
>>
>>31176668

Because there's a chance that the one you get through CMP has "Gaudalcanal" or "Bastonne" scratched into the stock with a Ka-Bar/Bayonet.

>>31176807
It wasn't just a Mauser ripoff, the action was actually licensed from Mauser, which meant that for every 1903 produced between 1903 and 1917, the US government paid Germany for the rights to use the Mauser action.
>>
>>31176668

>heavy
ok true but the more you carry it the lighter it gets
>thumb buster
either don't be a retard or get a holbrook device
>not especially accurate
what does *especially* accurate mean? sorry it's not a 'sniper rifle', but I guarantee it's more accurate than you can shoot
>uses en block clips
they're dirt cheap. you're not on the beaches of normandy, you're not going to lose them, just pick them up. Some surplus ammo even comes loaded in en blocs.

If you really want a legitimate criticism you'd mention that commercial ammo is too harsh for the gas system, so you really need to get an adjustable gas plug if you're going to shoot it regularly.
>>
>>31176668
Ask the Nazis or the Imperial Japanese.

Oh, wait...

Akshually....

It wasn't licensed. It was a case of patent infringment. The US had to pay the Germans after being taken to court.

On a side note my father has an M1 he got from his father after he died, complete with a bayonet and mount. Actually served in Frace up to Berlin. Thing fires like a charm.

google CMP

I don't understand how people haven't heard of this
>>
>>31176668
Because we Americans have a nostalgia boner for WW2 and the 'greatest generation'. It's a decent rifle, but it's carried mostly by reputation and the era that it's connected to, not the actual merit of the rifle itself.
>>
fantastic gun, go back to nazi land if you dont like it
>>
>>31177348
>I love supporting the local guys

You mean the kikes?

I'm in Lakeland and if I don't like the price, I don't buy from them.
>>
>>31177814
I've started to look online more and more, but I like being able to hold and inspect the weapon in person before buying.
Saving up for the next Orlando show so maybe I'll find something nice their amid all the blatant price gouging.
>>
>>31177964

It's never made a difference to me.

Why do you think the unit would be wildly different than the photographs?

>>
>>31177988
It's more on the general feel of the weapon in my hands than anything. How it's weighted, conforms to my hands, etc.
Perhaps a bit archaic with such a large after market for most guns, but I'm just having a bit of a hard time moving past it.
I just want to make sure something is a good "fit" for me before I spend money on it.

I prey towards Camp Perry 5 times a day, with my Garand.
>>
>>31178061
Holy hell those aren't half bad prices. I'm almost tempted to buy the service version on the spot.
I'll have to keep an eye on the site, thanks.

For less common guns like the LH9 I'm looking into for instance, it's a bit tougher so I may just roll the dice on that like I did with my Rhino which worked out extremely well. Just need the double action conversion kit for it.

Because stripper clips are so much better, even comparable semi automatics like the SVT-40 and G43 were often charged with stripper clips.

Wait a minute here, what kind of third world country still uses wooden sleepers?
>>
The PING is very arousing
>>
>>31179293
They're called ties, and wooden ones are actually better than concrete ones in a lot of applications.

Concrete ones need to be surfaced a lot more frequently.

>Why does this gun give so many people such hardons?
I don't know either. Other than being very appreciative of history, I don't see anything too great about it.
I don't hate it, in fact I love it. I just don't see any special reason to hold it higher than other milsurp.
