Hey /k/. This is my first time here and I was wondering what you would reccomend for shotgun for when SHTF. I was thinking 12g since it's widely available and that availabilty should carry on even after society collapses.
Get a pump action 12 gauge like one of the ones on this list. I'd reccomend one with a steel reciever. For HD (home defense) I have a Remington 870, and for dicking around and skeet I have an Ithaca 37. I would also reccomend a Mossberg 500, a Benelli Nova, and a Winchester Model 12 if those sound good to you. You basically can't go wrong with them.

Thanks a lot anon, this really helps.
Any recommendations for semi auto shot guns?

you should probably just buy a rifle with that money, shotguns are limited in capacity and range but is youre money so do what you want

I wouldn't get one, especially if you only are getting one shotgun. From my limited experience and the other strangers on the internet's experience semi-auto shotguns are less reliable, and the only downside to pump shotguns is that they're possibly a bit slower.

AR-15 in 5.56 or AK-74 in 5.45 or 5.56

yeah if youre buying it for SHTF a rifle is a much better choice. id say a cheap ar, like a ruger or m&p sport because theyre 5.56 so ammo would be easier to scrounge up, wasr's are still cheap and atlantic firearms insepects theirs for lemons
