One thing many get wrong is that the Xenomorphs aren't supposed to be completely unstoppable monsters but rather organisms who bleed just like any other. It's one of my gripes with Alien:Isolation having a damn Drone who's harder to kill than a Queen.

If they have a Queen & make a nest, they'd be a threat but I can't see them travelling across water & fire is still a weakness.

Since we're on the topic of cartridges that are effective against Xenomorphs, I always found it ironic that the caseless HE 10mm that the Pulse Rifles use was the only thing they had effective against them but was also what fucked some people over because the round caused the Xenos to detonate and spray acid all over the place.

To be fair, there's a BIG difference between the weapons on Savastapol (a civvie colony/set-up breeding ground) and the ones fielded by the Colonial Marines.
The 10mm Hi-Ex armor piercing rounds for the pulse rifle springs to mind. Pulse rifles kill Xenomorphs easily because they're supposed to turn humans into pink mist. A standard boolit doesn't do much, 9mm seems to need to be close range and en masse, I wouldn't even want to think about fighting one with a sword.

A single Xeno forced into combat with a group of experienced Vikings is nothing to write home about. Its a mess, the Xeno dies, some Vikings die on the field, more later from wounds and acid.

The real threat is the fact that the above is not how Xenos operate. Look at the original Alien movie. They are fast, stealthy, and predatory, preferring hit and run tactics where they impregnate and multiply without forcing an engagement. To the Vikings, a Xeno would be a bedtime horror story, something that goes bump in the night followed by rape, until the chest bursters start popping and all hell breaks loose. They spread, and eventually the planet is lost.

The way I see it, in order for the Vikings to win, you need a cavalry operation, not an infantry formation. If all you are up against is a drone, you flush it out and hunt it down, and the bedtime story gets a happy ending. Against a queen, shit gets more dire, you need a large cavalry operation FAST before they get out of control. You have to identify where the queen is, pin her down, force an engagement, and win, all before the eggs start hatching and facehuggers start scurrying off into the brush.
The challenge is not Viking tactics and technology, its intelligence and the capacity to act on said intelligence immediately.
With the proper heads-up, planning, and plenty of men, a Viking cavalry unit could isolate, pin down, and kill a lone Xenomorph queen, the question is whether or not they could carry out the operation fast enough to ensure they are ONLY fighting a Xeno queen.

Wolf pits everywhere and skirmish with javelins & bows (barbed points) to draw them towards the pits and slow them down.

Melee should be avoided if at all possible because their strength, speed, and most importantly their corrosive blood which will ruin weapons and maim anyone splashed with it.

If close combat cannot be avoided, shield wall with boar spears. Pin the Xeno and let it bleed out at a distance. Easier said than done, expect casualties.

A long pike would not result in acid all over you, the acid isn't going to shoot 15 feet. It only went far in the movies for dramatic effect and because they were using explosive bullets. Spear formations would be the winning strategy against xenos, just like they were against humans and cavalry.
