Yeah, the only evidence for him being an anti is one interview. He just seemed personally uncomfortable with guns and didn't like the idea of having the power to take another human life. To my knowledge he has never said that other people shouldn't have guns, just that he doesn't want to have that kind of power or responsibility, and that he liked working on Tremors because Burt only used his guns and bombs to fight monsters and protect people. He did start stockpiling food and making disaster preparedness plans for his family after playing Burt though.
