I was thinking of joining the Navy and currently I am debating between two rates.
I auto qualify for the nuclear program and I can be a nuclear engineer but, I was never good at math or physics so I'm hesitant.
I'm really interested in intelligence having taken a few intelligence courses at university. I think being an Intelligence specialist can be fun.
What do you guys think or am I on the wrong board?

Why though? That's my question should I do either nuke or intelligence?

DO IT!
Hold the world in your hands, feel how little there really is.
>>
>>31155081
>joining the navy

We get it, you're one of them homosexuals.
>>
>>31155081
>I fucking hate myself and/or I'm mildly autistic but I love money
Nuke.
>I want a cushy 9-5 job at a shore command and to gtfo after 4 for that dank GI Bill
IS, IT, CTN, CTI if you like languages, etc.
>>
>>31156864
This here is the correct answer. The life of a Nuke is a shitty one, but if you manage to not kill yourself/ fuck up and get dropped from the program you'll walk away with serious money.
>>
>>31155081
>be autistic
>hate life
>join as a nuke
>Kill self during training

Such is the life of a navy nuke.
>>
Go nuke, suffer your time, make bank when you get out.
>>
>>31156864
He is right, however there is another answer which is to not join at all. Currently 3 years in still regretting it can't wait to get out and get a normal job
>>
>>31155081
If you ABSOLUTELY have to join the Navy, go Nuke. Join the real Navy. Intel Navy is full of shore Sailor children. Nuclear experience practically guarantees a job after your term.

Source: Army, worked with navy intel for nearly a decade. Met a few Nukes who were transferred to intel for fucking up on duty.

First of all, you have no idea what a "real" sailor is. Sea duty is suffering. There is no point to put yourself through it if you can get an easy shore duty. There is a very high chance as a first term IS that you will end up on a carrier anyway
>>
DUKE NUKEM JOINS THE NAVY
>>

I can tell you were in the Navy by how you act. You want the easy life, let the other sailors do the hard stuff. Typical sailor. Sea duty is earning your pay.

I worked with CT rates, not IS. The vast majority of them go to shore duty, because there isn't much need for them on ships. Some do get a billet, sure, if the vessel has facilities for them. I know whole departments of sailors who've done multiple tours in place, made Chief, retired and never went to sea.

Whats the nuclear program?
>>

Navy needs enlisted bodies to run its naval reactors.
https://www.navy.com/careers/nuclear-power/nuclear-operations.html#ft-key-responsibilities

However, the reactors are a myth. "Nuclear" powered ships and boats actually run on the souls of the reactor department.

I was thinking about it too. Then I heard the school has the highest suicide rate in the military.

I've heard this from various people in and out of the Navy, including one going through the training now.

Don't.
>>
>>31157592
This. I don't regret joining, at least not fully since i made some good friends. Fuck though i spent 2.5 years telling myself it was worth it. Became depressed and suicidal. Waiting on orders to seattle to seperate. Wish i could slap my younger self.

>but, I was never good at math or physics so I'm hesitant.
OK so nukes out.
Go intel, most the info here is meme info. Take this to /meg/
