What does /k/ think of the Auto Ordinance m1 carbine? id like it most as pic related id get an original but id be worried about damaging it is this a good alternative?
They are alright. Wire frame stocks suck ass on the m1carb though. They look great though. The solid stock points incredibly natural...wire not..

so what if i got a full stocked version?

I would get an original and just not worry about damaging it. The m1carb is ak47 tier as far as a beater rifle goes. Scratches and dings are character.

I bought a new one for my pop for his 60th birthday. Personally i think its too expensive for what it is, but 60 is a big one and he's always talked about getting one but could never justify it to himself.
They are a blast to shoot and you can shoot the repros guilt free. I was suprised by how much I liked .30 caliber
I've been told the originals are easy to find in good condition cause they were mostly issued to pogs, and fired non corrosive ammo but I've never found one I can afford. Like all ww2 guns I like, i should have bought one 20 years ago.

my great uncle killed a Vietcong soldier in the late 60s with an M1. It kinda makes me want one

this is sorta the reason i dont want a replica because of
>muh history
but i want it for a truck gun on my farm. and anything that goes near my truck gets pretty roughed up.

they would make a great truck gun, just make sure it's never stolen
I bought one a while back from my lgs with a wood stock and had to send it back to the factory three times to get it to work properly. Apparently the bolt was not machined smooth and it had a high spot. They also marred the fuck out of it when they repaired it the second time and I had to send it back a third time to clean up the marring on the barrel.

This is true. Just make sure you don't do stupid shit with it: like run it over, stoke the campfire, use it as a brace for repelling down an elevator shaft, or stimulating your prostate while wearing a dress.
