It's latest poorfag flavor of the month rifle, and the only AK that's under $600, so yeah, /k/ is lapping it up despite it being an AMD with four extra inches slapped on, ClassicArms.com being the only real vendor, there being no bayonet lug, and no one having any idea where the unlined barrels came from. It's for the people who can't find/can't afford a WASR or an N-PAP.

Oh yeah, and if it looks like there's a bit too much barrel between the gas block and FSB, that's because there is. They kept the AMD's shorter gas tube, even though the fucked up the barrel in general instead of soldering on an elongated brake (like the FEG AMD in picrelated) and not give the gun the appearance of a low-cost shop build made from whatever components they had left over.

They aren't bad shooters at all. Don't let salty /k/omrades get to you.

It's not a bad gun, 30 rounders take a bit of extra moving to get past the front handguard but they go in just fine. The stock is uncomfortable but it werks. It's not bad for the price, not bad at all. Though if you don't own ANY AK I highly recommend getting something more vanilla like a WASR first. Just my opinion

I came into possession of an AMD-65 in Afghanistan that literally (correct use of the word) had to be kicked into and out of battery. Your results may vary, though.

I've got a 65, Flandre built it for me from parts kit.

Kinda wish I'd gone WASR or Polish, as both were available the few years back when I got it. It's still fun to shoot, takes my bakelites no problem with a great fit.

Just ordered a pmag 20 rounder to see how well it'll run since AMD was meant to be used with smaller mags

I like my amd 63, sanded down the forward grip so mags are easier to get in
Filed down the tapco hammer because it was riding on the bolt and jamming sometimes.
For 500$ you can't beat it.
I even have a Hungarian mag satchel for it

I guess that's an easy way to dismiss it. It's what I thought, too. I cleaned it over and over but it never fixed the problem. There were no deformed parts, no burrs, nicks or gouges on the receiver rails, the locking lugs were all clean on the bolt and barrel, and nothing looked like it was made in the Khyber Pass. I don't know what was wrong with it.

These "AMD-65s", no one has any idea who is assembling them from AMD kits, and as has been mentioned, the only retailer selling them off is Classic Arms, and they're not talking either. There's a lot not known about them, including the barrel manufacturer, but hey, they're under $600...
