5 rnd mag cap if detachable/ 10 rnd if fixed NO EXEMPTIONS (goodbye enfield)
All lever/pump action rifles/shotguns on Cat C (for farmers only)
All semi automatic handguns (not DA revolvers though) Banned from sporting use if over .22lr
Airsoft still banned.
Paintball still classed as a gun.
AMMO REGISTRATION (can only buy ammo for firearms you own/purchase recorded and send in to police.)
Military appearance laws still in there and now have a checklist. (have a bayonet lug? bayonets are for the army! Banned!)
Rifles over .308 are banned.
Certain knives are to be banned by name as the police have just been given that power too, along with Firearms licenses becoming MAY ISSUE instead of SHALL ISSUE.

Don't have any knowledge of AUS law here. How can they make something illegal if it was legal at the time you bought it?

that is easy enough. Some shit is allowed to be grandfathered. So you take it to the police (or w/e) and then they register it as a legit firearm.
If they choose not to they tell you its illegal to keep, and you have to hand them in. Sometimes they give you money as compensation (I think that happened earlier when australia did something like this). You can try and keep the gun but you are risking a fine or jail or whatever doing so
