But honestly, I've owned 1 Taurus pistol and it was truly a piece of shit. I just sold it off because it didn't work. Save your money and buy a decent 1911.

Save like $80 more and buy a rock island armory 1911. I had one of those and it was solid. Nothing fancy but I never had a misfeed. Don't get that Taurus. You may feel like you're doing your buddy a favor by taking it of his hands, but he's fucking you and he knows it. You won't be able to sell it later no matter how hard you try.

Taurus 1911s are not unreliable pieces of shit like most taurus pistols are.

My tacticool cousin has a tactical model (with a rail so he can pretend he's black ops) and it has a lot of the usual 1911 bells and whistles for a very cheap price.

It took some breaking in, of course, but now it's pretty damn reliable. Feels somewhat cheap when it comes to fit and finish, especially compared to the base model 1911s from Colt, Springfield, etc. But then again it has a load of features and costs less than a base Colt or Springfield anyway.

I'd never buy one because i'm a snob and also not poor. Doesn't make it a bad gun though i suppose.

Right there is a red flag to me.

If he's fine with Taurus he could have got a PT92. He didn't. He went and got a Beretta. Why? Because we know Berettas work, and we know Taurus a shit.

I'd pass on a Taurus 1911 unless I could run a few hundred rounds through it myself and ensure it works. Without knowing how it works I wouldn't pay more than $100 for one unless your friend has some guarantee to return funds or you trust him.

A clip is what is used to feed bullets into a magazine. Most often it's just a strip of metal that's grasping onto the rims of the bullets. Magazines that support clips tend to have a guide for them to fit into so you can shove the bullets off the clip and into the magazine.

ask him if you can take it out to see if it works properly.
