Is there a better 380 for the money than a LCP? Thinking about getting one for my first CCW. I do not want to dress around a gun. Sport shorts and a t-shirt is my normal summer dress.

glock 42, once you change out the horrific trigger and sights

>>31086217
LCP is still a good bit smaller
>>
>>31086267
no doubt, but the g42 is a dream to shoot, has usable sights(once you change the pos plastic ones) and still fits in a pocket as long as you don't wear skinny jeans.

Taurus 738 TCP... Picked one up last week for $199.

This link convinced me to get it over a KelTec or Ruger: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/05/jeremy-s/gun-review-taurus-738-tcp/
>>
>>31086217
Seconding this.

I'll take a negligibly larger and heavier (3oz) .380 for far more shootability.
>>
>>31086338
Do you want a gun that you can conceal in any clothing?
>LCP

Do you want a pocket pistol for a specific style of dress thats slightly more comfortable to shoot?

>glock 42
>>
I have one and its ...look
CON:
>it has the recoil of a 1911
>requires a tool to break down the slide
>has issues with +p/+p+
>mag release is sensitive
PRO:
>size for what you're packin'
>lel only 380acp
>affordable

ect.
/whatamimissin'?
>>
i have one, i hate it. it is small but it sucks so much to shoot that i never practice with it.
>>
LCP is basically a point blank carry gun. Maybe the pro model or whatever the fuck its called can be shot a little more accurately but anything beyond 7 yards and you will have a tough time trying to hit center of mass in the heat of the moment.

Personally, I would look to get a small Sig in 9mm or maybe even a Glock 43 if you want a striker fired gun. Its more money but its your life on the line if you have to use it.
>>
>>31086217
Third for this.

I firmly believe it's an ideal balance of a lot of factors that results in a really fine pistol.
>>
>>31086383
The LCP is also $200 now though. I actually really like my LCP and think it shoots well (for what it is). The trigger is long and heavy, but smooth.
>>
>>31086210

infinitely better if you are not a poorfag
>>
Horrible trigger, Ruger refused to recall or repair, never buying a Ruger again. Love my Vaqueros, but will never again recommend Ruger as a company with good QC, customer service, or design.
>>
>>31086868

Damn I didnt realize they were only 200 bucks. Im in the market for a 380 but I cant decide what I want. I know the kahr p380 is really nice but I think it is way more expensive
>>
>>31086868
The trigger on normal models is fucking horrible with its long reset (basically let go of the trigger to fire again). That shit can get you killed if you have the muscle memory of any normal trigger with lesser reset distance.
>>
>>31086210
I prefer my pico. Smaller, immune to limpwristing.
>>
>>31086894

lol no thanks.
>>
>>31086922

why, you like missing your first shot every time?
>>

Bersa Thunder
>>
>>31086942

Nah, I'm just not into archaic pistol design, at least for something Im going to carry for its functionality.
>>
Kahr CW380 is great, its about 340$ but for 200$ you can't beat that LCP
>>
>>31086210
Honestly mine has been reliable and pretty easy to shoot considering what it is. It's not a Glock 19, but it is perfect for when you need to pocket carry or are wearing gym shorts.
>>
>>31086910
Jesus THIS
>>
>>31086210
LCP custom fixes the horrible trigger on that thing and is only like $20 more.
>>
>>31087080
This. The custom model is a fantastic firearm for the price. I plan on buying one soon
>>
>>31086910
Considering that it's a micro DAO .380 it's not a bad trigger. It's no Pardini or tuned 1911, but it's workable. Don't take my word for it though, dry fire one in the store or find one to shoot.
>>
>>31086901
never heard of ruger doing this ever, can you give more detail?

they have legendary customer service, i would call again and talk to someone else.

my wife carries an LCP and has no problem at all shooting it well.

I'll take my own word over yours.
>>
>>31087182
I have one too and it shoots fine. Maybe learn some trigger control or don't have target pistol expectations for a trigger on a $200-300 gun. For most defensive distances, it's fine.
>>
>>31087272
it blows me away how people complain about the trigger on pocket .380s. Literally all .380s have shit triggers, they arent designed to have 3 pound pulls....its a gun smaller than your fucking palm lol.
>>
Everyone I've talked to with an LCP hates the trigger.
I kinda feel like they are playing the "looks" game in the gun stores by being the right size, and coming in fancy colors.

I'd probably stretch to a M&P Bodyguard, or maybe go for a Makarov based on your size/weight constraints. Just me though.

Confirmed. My EDC is my Glock 26, but for the occasions where I absolutely have to pocket carry my LCP Custom is fucking awesome. Reliable with everything I've fed it, including Russian ammo. And though the Glock 42 may be more shootable and comfortable, etc. the LCP C is surprisingly easy to shoot, and it is much easier to pocket without printing in my experience.
>>
>>31086217
Just got my ccw and gonna be getting this soon. Looked like a great mix of guns for concealed carry.

Learned to shoot the first time with a P238 and I hear the 42 is much better to handle. Can't wait to shoot that bad boy.
>>
>>31086943
The safety is also the decocker so you can't carry cocked and locked. Deal breaker for me...
>>
>>31087299
If they made a striker fired version it would be the shits. I'd take my lc9s over an lcp any day
>>
>>31087463
The P238 is the best 380 on the market.

The 42 is also good but the trigger on the P238 is pure sex.
>>
>>31086906
I almost bought a very used one at a fun show for $99 but I didn't know much about it and heard that it's an iffy brand.
I done goofed.
>>
>>31086781

there is no such thing as .380ACP +p or +p+. there is no standard for that load to have +p, so gun manufacturers cannot build to tolerate that pressure, because no one knows what the load will really be.
>>
hey I'm also a newbie and first time poster... I briefly looked into the Ruger LCP 380 for CC purposes (I really just want a pocket gun or a very easily concealed gun), but after looking around I feel that the Bersa Thunder 380 CC model would be a great fit.

Any pros/cons with that?
>>
>>31087496
well the LCP doesnt even have a safety

with the long-trigger pull on these things, it's safe to carry concealed with safety off
>>
>>31086210
>>31087080
>>31087094
>>31087334

yessss, get the custom. the trigger is amazing on it for what the gun costs. also get the 7 round magazine, it adds some needed grip length.

i see a lot of people with the hogue grips, but they add a lot of fatness. before you go that way check out talon rubberized grips. no thickness, and very grippy.
>>
>>31088434

absolutely nothing wrong with them. They're pretty great. If you're going for .380, it's really damn good.

I personally don't like going lower than 9mm, but hey, it's pretty damn clear .380 does the job.

It's a great little gun.

Be aware, the trigger is hot garbage, but the gun itself is a tack driver. The sights are not adjustable but once you shoot a target and figure out where yours hits you can Kentucky windage it pretty nicely.

It obviously has fit and finish issues. The slide is rather hard to rack, not THAT hard, but there is definitely a little something fucky about it. There are these weird plastic nubs coming out the left side. On the right side there are these indents and lnt he left these nubs. Seems to be some very odd product of the molding process. Be aware if you are left handed these little nubs will rub your hand a little. Not enough to be a deal breaker, but you will be aware of them.

The gun is TINY and light, so even LOL380 will kick like a mule. Its more unpleasant to shoot than my Glock 20 with 10mm. But it is the only pocket pistol I own. The sights are total garbage, dull black on black but a paint pen or nail polish can give you some high contrast sights that work just fine. It also requires a flat head screwdriver to disassemble so in the event of OMGSHTF literal zombie apocalypse your 380 pocket pistol might be a pain to disassemble, but any normal house should have a flat head screwdriver, of you don't it's not the pistols fault, it's yours.

On the bright side it feeds the shittiest ammo I can buy, Wolf, Tulammo, Winchester White Box without a hiccup. A super reliable little gun. It's also ridiculously small. In a pocket carry holster it is no more annoying than a cell phone. A true pocket carry gun.

One last tiny flaw, the only mags you can find for it are Ruger OEM mags, and one will run you 40 bucks for a six shot mag. So that 200 dollar price tag turns into a 240 for a gun and two mags.

But still, highly recommended. Pic related, my EDC pistol. Lighter for scale.

you can find promags, that actually work, in 10 or 15 rounds.

Stock Glock sights are fine as long as you dont drop your gun on concrete and dont mind not having night sights... but i love my night sights. Also fuck the fanboy meme glock has a large following for a reason; they are simple and reliable. Why do you think every youtube gun channel like them? Why do you think the seals are switching to the 19 over the p226? Why almost every cop in america carries one? Because they are all hurr durr fan bois? No, its because they fucking work

I literally am carrying a p238 in my pocket cocked and locked right now because it's so comfy (also because there's been a string of robberies in the neighborhood). The safety is very usable and it's never flipped on its own before.

But if you must go with the LCP then be sure to switch out the spring for something that will give less recoil.
>>
>>31088575
That's not fair. I want a 15 rd mag for my p238 ;~;

Does anyone know anything about the sccy cpx-3? I don't think anyone else is making a gun that small at that price that holds 10 rounds of .380, and I really want more than 6 shots in case I have to deal with a pack of assailants.
