I did like the hunting rifle. Though I'm currently on my 8th play through at 60+ hours, and even the gun runners don't have the hunting rifle scope.
It always pissed me off that you couldn't put a suppressor on the Gobi, too.

You can recharge fusion cores by putting them back in generators and hitting the button. Just don't deplete them all the way.
