I got robbed by a guy who had a fake gun. I didn't know it was fake. The shock of sitting at a computer watching ASMR videos one second and having my hands up while a guy wearing a mask threatened to kill me completely removed my ability to think of my CCW.

I enjoy buying and building targets for my shooting pleasure. I'm currently building a personal skeet range. I have about 4 grand in steel targets. I'm also working out how to make a non-motorized moving deer target.

I volunteer at my local veterans association. This includes cleaning of their parade firearms and helping out with dinners, along with taking guys out to the range. I'll also volunteer at nursing homes, or for older folks who just need tasks done that they are too old/infirm to do.

Shooting yourself in the head isn't instant death like in a movie. In most cases the idiots get the angle wrong and blow their face off, which results in a slow and unimaginably painful death from blood loss and shock. Other times they end up a brain-dead vegetable, probably due to using a small caliber or fmj. Here's the kicker, the survival rate for head shots was something like 23%... you have a 1 in 4 chance of not dying (but this includes attempted homicide headshots, they didn't have a percentage for attempted suicide alone), and that doesn't account for the people that had to suffer before dying.

We're a resilient species, killing yourself is difficult. The easiest way from what I've gathered and observed, falls seem like the most sure way to die, and drowning seems like the most peaceful. Doesn't necessarily have to be in water, I heard you don't feel it with certain gasses.

I have rifles perfectly capable of downing a small herd of charging elephants in a matter of seconds. I have handguns with three times the mag capacity of your average revolver and expensive HP ammo. I have an AR-15 with 30rd mags and a couple of shotguns loaded with 00 buck. I have great faith in them all. Mostly they stay locked in the safe. Beside the bed I have a Marlin Model 60 with whatever 22LR was cheap when I last loaded it. In the living room I have a loaded black powder 1860 Colt Army clone. If someone breaks in, they're getting shot with one of those two. I suppose the rest are waiting for the day when the threat of tyranny or looting become imminent and I'll drag 'em out.
Of course, where I live, the cops/EMS are basically 30 minutes away. A home intruder is going to have to survive a bunch of 22 mini-holes or a couple of ragged lead .44 ball wounds for at least that long before help arrives.

About 2 years ago I started watching Forgotten weapons and regain interest in guns (now more on mechanical/historical level as opposed to just shooting). After a while I decided to go back to shooting.

In a rare instance of not being total beta, I decided to confront my "fear". I went to same range and bought about 100 of .45 (I'm a poor fag). Lo and behold I was assigned same RO as on that fatal day.

Guy obviously didn't remember me, because why would he. Long story short I had a lots of fun that that and fall in love with 1911.

Recently I bought myself BP revolver (only legal thing without pain in the ass permit). Once I get permit I will probably buy myself an 1911.
