What is too heavy for an AR-15? Mine is coming in at just under 9lbs unloaded, which TNP says is the max.
>>
>>31009733
>TNP
literally who
>>
That is definitely up there in weight. I'd shoot for less than nine.
>>
>>31009733
A 9lb rifle in 556 sounds pretty comfy desu. Anyway, if manlets could carry BAR's and Garands through a war I don't think you should have an issue with weight.

Yeah it boils down to what you want to do with it. Are you shooting from a bench or do you wanna go innawoods with it? My 24" Bull Barrel JP Enterprises is like around 20lbs all told, but I only shoot from a bench so it's no big deal. I definitely wouldn't want to hump it on a hike or deer hunt though.

Why would anyone have over 6 lb? Isn't the point of a combat rifle being able to use it in combat situations? Why would you settle for heavy gear when you can just load up like pic related and head out?
>>
>>31009825
a default m4 carbines pattern ar is 6.9
sub 6 requires thought
>>
>>31009811

I'm happy with it. I could cut down on weight if I got a lighter sling, butstock and took out the stuff I have stored inside the grip and butstock. It's got a mapgpul ACS on it, a Blue Force Gear 1-3 point sling that definitely add weight for comfort and durability. I've also got an extra firing pin, parts, oil, and cleaning solution stored in it.

It's got a pretty heavy barrel on it, that is fluted, but it does 1/2moa and less with match ammo so it's awesome. Definitely makes the gun a more precision light range build.

Aye that's what I think is more important. I'd rather get more accuracy than weight savings with my rifles more than anything. Overall your build looks good, and with that accuracy, you've got yourself a good shooter when you'll need it.
>>
mine is about 16lb with a 100 round mag
>>
>>31010026

That's what I figured. With the bipod on it and comp an ACOG I can put rounds down range super fast and accuratly. Like 30 rounds on a headsize target at 400 yards as fast as you can pull the trigger. Pretty much getting rid of the quad rail and going for a lighter sling is the only things I could take off of it that would lower the weight and still enable it to shoot like that, which i don't want to give up.
>>
>>31009982
No. Search Google for image.
>>
Oh and with a 30 round p-mag in it it's 10lbs even.

Mine is 7 empty so 8 loaded.
>>
>>31009795
It isn't a question of whether or not it can be done, it is whether it should be done. Extra weight means you fatigue and lose effectiveness sooner. I am not saying 9lb is unacceptable, but lighter is better when it comes all gear.

Des Moines Rifle and Revolver Club in Van Meter. Its mainly Leo/Mil but its a great group of people and a great range. I live south in the country, the hunting is prime for turkey and deer.

I've never tried an ultimak, I've only ever used the side rail and it's what I prefer on my AKs, it could be the either the mount or the optic, try it on another rifle

The JP handguards allows mounting of rail sections. I believe it's propietary as I dont' see any reference to keymod or MLOK systems on their page.

https://www.jprifles.com/1.4.4_hg_mkiii.php

It's a heavy handguard no doubt about it, but it's large and comy and allows the thermal dissipator to fit on the barrel.

mfw the optic costs roughly 7X more than the burner AR it's on in this picture.
mfw I have no face.
>>

My rifle has never been heavy enough to bother me while carrying it to the point of actually having to weigh it.

A scale is not always the best metric for an opinion, especially when no two people are alike in physical ability.

Nothing. But you're purposefully ignoring the retardation of buying into excessive diminishing returns.

Glass is important and has a place on a rifle, but half the people who buy expensive glass either don't know how to shoot, or throw it on a literal shit tier rifle.

I can confidently say anything sub $1500 glass will be better than 75% of the rifles they are put on and 90% of the shooters who use them will never maximize the optics full usage/potential.
>>
>>31014072
Perpendicular =/= upside-down. They're not even close. What he mean lt and what he said are two very different things. Really the only autistic one is the guy who can't load something as intuitive as a garand.

Mostly the weight. It's fine on a DMR rifle or precision range gun, but for a patrol rifle it's a lot of weight when almost as good lightweight options exist.

The acog is still the best good glass lightweight option.
>>
>>31015396
Basically, the scope is for my 'lightweight' DMR.
SCAR-17s + lts-2

but If I were going on a patrol, I would probably opt for something lighter.
I mounted the scope on the AR for retarded fun reasons.
>>

more like 2300 is what I paid for mine.
