Just picked up a 20rd box of 135gr HST for $20, looking for good data on performance but my google-fu is weaksauce, give me the down-low on these new-fangly supertech bullets, gunmasters.

Picture related is a .45 HST fired into a water jug at 10 feet. The aluminum case round next to it is just for comparison.

That's Hydra-Shok, not HST (Hi-Shok Two). Read the box before buying, nigga.

Should have bought the tactical box. 50 rounds for about the same price.

That looks like it gives pretty good penetration, honestly.

Shot placement is far more important that some gel ballistics test. Most modern defensive rounds perform nearly the same.

>Hydra-Shok
>modern

They're not from the 70's. They were solid performers 20 years ago and they're solid today. The NIJ has some great write up on OIS and lethality of calibers on center mass hits. It's worth digging up.

Shit, that's right the .380 came in hst, I let my enthusiasm get the better if me.

Nobody sells them around here, getting ready to dig into online bulk supply, it's hard to even find decent supplies of cheap jho around here, 9mm and .22 practically fly off the shelves.

Thank god, I'm trying to keep the happy medium between expansion and still having a full penetration profile with a preference for penetration first. Expansion looks terrible in thos pics though.
Look at shooting the bulls channel on youtube. He did a 3 inch 9mm barrel ammo quest and found that the HST was a top 3 performer of all the ammo he tested.

My Cabelas has it sometimes. I recommend buying from based SGammo. They have different weights and +p or normal pressure rounds.

Also don't skimp on hollow points if you value your life or others.
I went to the store to buy some hydroshock because it's what the Phoenix PD carries and that always looks good in court cases if you actually have to use your weapon
Saw the Sig jhp boxes and thought "hur I has Sig, I like Sig, Sig gud!" and walked out with 60 rounds of this shit to use as my edc sd rounds. I got home, looked up its performance and just realized it's shinny dogshit in a small box.
Being a Sig fanboy fucked me.
I'm going to buy something else tomorrow. What does /k/ recommend, I'm carrying a 9mm and want something in 124 grain
